NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS FRIDAY 213
SCHOOLS CLOSED MONDAY 216
Superintendentrsquos Message John P Kronour PhD
The Board of Education voted to place a 495 mill 5-year emergency operating
levy on the May ballot The funds generated will enable the district to improve
teacher compensation by restoring the traditional ldquosteprdquo schedule that rewards
teachers for education and years of service This is the industry norm that has been
absent in our district for several years In a cost-saving measure the BOE froze
this model and resorted to a year-to-year consideration that included 4 years of a
salary step freeze Last year the BOE authorized an across-the-board salary
increase of 2 percent working within the budget available to them Yet it is not
enough to make up for the years of wage freezes and lack of steps Because the
district lacks this model we lost too many quality teachers to higher paying positions in other districts We
could lose more Tipp City Exempted Village Schools takes great pride in attracting and retaining quality
educators who share our vision and commitment to excellence A competitive salary helps us achieve that goal
Thirteen Tippecanoe High School students
were selected to perform with the OMEA
District 11 Honor Band Congratulations to
Brandon Slifer Josh May Emily Quinn Luke
Becker Trevor Toros Brooke Vissoc Tyler
Hopper Josh Taylor Ethan Bigony Matt
Bereda Jordan Wise Colby Calk and Dylan
Shomper The students had the opportunity to
rehearse and perform with Shelley Jagow
PhD from Wright State University Due to
the weather forecast from last weekend the
students actually only rehearsed for 6 hours
on Saturday and gave the concert following
the short rehearsal Congratulations to these
fine musicians on their hard work
