Alarm Management SystemAlarm Management System

Alarm Type Description

Fault Alarm Alarms generated due to hardware equipment fault or major

function exception can be cleared after handling. The system

will report cleared alarm indicating the fault is cleared. Fault

alarms' generation and clearance are of one-to-one

correspondence relationship.  Generally, severity of fault

alarm is higher than that of event alarm.

Event Alarm Accidental alarm during equipment operation reflects the

transient state of equipment operation. It only indicates the

system is in alarm state at a certain time. There is no cleared

alarm for event alarms. And some event alarms are

generated periodically.

Alarm Severity Description

Critical Alarm This type of alarm affects the services provided by the

system, so it must be handled at once. Even if the alarm is

generated out of working-hours, measures should be taken

at once. For example, when some equipment or resource is

completely unavailable, it is necessary to restore it.

Major Alarm The major alarm affects QoS, for example, the QoS of a d

evice or resource is impaired. It requires immediate handli

ng.

Alarm Severity Description

Minor Alarm The minor alarm does not affect QoS. It requires h

andling at a proper time against potential faults.

Warning Alarm The warning shows a potential error that may

affect service .It may require handling in some

cases.

Power System Alarms of the power system (e.g. DC 48V) .

Environment System Alarms of equipment room environment (e.g.

temperature, humidity and door control) .

Signaling System Alarms of channel associated signaling and SS7.

Trunk System Alarms of trunk circuit and trunk board.

Hardware System Alarms of board device (e.g. clock, CPU) .

Software System Alarms of software.
