The NSC E model is without doubt the shiningstar in the range. Since its launch, only a few yearsago, it has come to dominate the market. Highperformance, combined with complete reliability,makes this model an outstanding carrier. Whilst itprovides the same speeds, capacities and optionsas other models, there are additional features thatgive this variant many advantages. Direct drives inthe travel and hoist system virtually eliminate allkinds of gears and couplings, reducing maintenanceand emissions of noise and lubricants. This appliesto the genset, as well as to the wheel drives andhoist system. The smart power management, onlyavailable on Noell Straddle Carriers, always keepsthe engine running on the lowest revs, consequentlysaving fuel and reducing noise whenever full poweris not required (e.g. during idling phases). Moreover,the generative effect of the patented wheel hubdrives and the hoist motor feed back energy intothe system when reducing speed or lowering thespreader. This energy is reused for powering othersystems, thus further saving fuel and reducingemissions while operating the carrier. The directdrives on the wheels have the effect of loweringthe centre of gravity on these Straddles. This,combined with intelligent assistance in stabilitycontrol of the CAN-bus system (CREON) ensuressafe operation under any conditions. The NSC E isperfectly prepared for later automation, as theCREON control system governs all movementsfrom zero to maximum speed and is regulated bythe state-of-the-art peripheral equipment, providingfeedback from the drives. The open-plan CAN-buslinks all active components and provides data fortroubleshooting and statistics when requested.

THE NSC H MODEL

For years, in container terminals around the world,large fleets of this model, in 3-high and 4-highversions, have ensured excellent performance inhandling a large volume of containers with minimaldowntime. By means of a closed centre hydrauliccircuit, the NSC H moves smoothly and precisely,from creep speeds to 30km/h, even when fullyloaded. With the high efficiency factor arising fromthe hydrostatic system, fuel consumption issignificantly lowered. In addition, the elimination ofgears and axles minimizes the number of partssubject to wear and maintenance. The four drivenwheels, equipped with liquid cooled wet disc brakes,always work with full control, even on slipperyground. Anti-slip and anti-blocking functions ensurebest grip and safe driving control in any conditions,whilst hydrostatic braking conserves the mechanicalcomponents of the brakes. Automatic speed limitershelp to keep this Straddle operating safely indangerous conditions. Automatic positioning of thespreader onto containers is facilitated by theoptional automatic spreader positioning system viacontrol of the hydrostatic drive system (or longshift)and the sideshift system. The hoist system is identicalto the NSC T model, consisting of a single axialpiston pump and combination, controlled via theCAN-bus system to achieve the best efficiency andhoist speeds up to 24 m/min. The whole system isdesigned to handle loads of up to 60 tons.All options available for the other models do alsoapply to the NSC H, for example the range ofpossibilities offered by the CREON system.

The NSC T model already offers everything youexpect from a high performance Straddle Carrier,while complexity of the systems installed isrationalized. Based on Noell’s single engineconcept, the NSC T is driven by a power trainconsisting of a smooth shifting torque convertergearbox with appended differential gear and angulargears, leading the power via cardan shafts downto the wheels. The four driven wheels, equippedwith liquid cooled wet disc brakes, provideperfect traction under any operating conditions.The hoist system is identical to the onefor the NSC H model, consisting of a singleaxial piston pump and motor combination,controlled via the CAN-bus system to achievethe best efficiency. With these systems, theNSC T model is able to travel at speeds of up to28 km/h and hoist at speeds of up to 24 m/min.Weights up to 60 tons can be carried (in twinlift mode). Power train components fromrenowned German suppliers ensure longlife and durability, whilst the reliable CREONcontrol system offers all the controls anddiagnostic functions expected from a modernmachine. For example, container weighing,stability assistance, or remote troubleshooting.Customized options are available for cabins,impact bars, stairways, mudguards, etc .
