Noise & Vibration (Lakeshore West Corridor)
• When new infrastructure is built, Metrolinx undertakes a
Noise and Vibration Modelling study to determine baseline
conditions as well as assess potential impacts once the
infrastructure has been built. Based on the results of the
study for the Lakeshore West Corridor, no noise mitigation
was recommended.
• Noise related to existing and future service is a concern that
we have heard across the region, so we are committed to
looking at any changes that can be made to reduce noise for
our neighbours.
Lakeshore West Corridor–Electrification Infrastructure
• Approximately 49 km of electrified corridor
• Two Hydro One Tap Locations:
o Burlington Tap
o Mimico Tap
• Traction Power Substations
o Burlington TPS
o Mimico TPS
o 25 kV Feeder Route
• Two Switching Stations
o Oakville SWS
o Mimico SWS
Lakeshore West Corridor–Bridge Modifications
• Along Lakeshore West Corridor there is a total of:
• 9 road bridges over rail; and,
• 2 pedestrian bridges over rail
• Bridges over the rail corridor will require bridge barriers for safety.
• Sunnyside Pedestrian Bridge and Drury Lane Pedestrian Bridge will require barriers. The addition of the barriers could make the bridge structurally unsound. Therefore these bridges will need to be structurally reinforced or replaced.
• In order for trains and the electrification wires to meet the clearance requirements under Strachan Avenue, Brown’s Line, Royal Windsor Drive, Dufferin Street, Dowling Avenue, Dunn Avenue, Jameson Avenue and Drury Lane Pedestrian Bridges, an engineering solution is required to increase the distance between the top of track and bottom of the bridge.

• Cultural Heritage Evaluation Reports are being completed for several
bridges to identify heritage value. Bridges identified as heritage will have
Heritage Impact Assessments completed to protect heritage features.
Mimico Tap/TPS/25 kV Feeder Route
• The Mimico Tap/TPS is to be
located on a parcel of land
situated on property at the
south west corner of the Canpa
rail corridor and Milton corridor,
west of Kipling Avenue.
• The 2x25 kV Mimico feeder
route will commence at the
Mimico Tap/TPS location and
run south via aerial cables
along the Canpa Rail right-of-
way to the Mimico SWS site.
The aerial feeder will be
supported by poles similar to
typical hydro poles.
• The Canpa rail right-of-way is
owned by Metrolinx.
• The Mimico Tap/TPS site is
currently mainly open
space/vacant lot with a building
and parking lots/storage areas
and a rail corridor to the north.
• The Mimico Tap/TPS site is
currently owned by Hydro One.
Mimico Switching Station
36 Towns Road Toronto, west of the GO Transit Willowbrook Rail Maintenance Facility, north of
rail corridor
• The Mimico SWS is to be located on a
parcel of land at 36 Towns Road in
Toronto, just west of the GO Transit
Willowbrook Rail Maintenance Facility
and north of the rail corridor.
• Towns Road is an industrial cul de sac,
and the parcel is surrounded by industrial
development. The parcel is currently
being used as an industrial storage area,
with some vegetation cover adjacent to
the rail corridor.
• The proposed positioning of the SWS
within this parcel is adjacent to the rail
corridor and is currently storage area and
vegetation.
• The property is currently privately owned.

Switching Station site.
Oakville Switching Station
560 Maple Grove Drive Oakville, southeast of the rail corridor
Current conditions at the proposed Oakville
Switching Station site.
• The Oakville SWS is to be located
on a parcel of land at 560 Maple
Grove Drive in Oakville. The site is
southeast of the rail corridor and is
currently an intermodal facility
(parking/storage area), with a
shopping plaza and office
buildings to the south.
• The proposed positioning of the
SWS is at the northwest side of
the parcel adjacent to the rail
corridor.
• The property is owned by
Metrolinx.
Burlington Tap/Traction Power Substation
845 Laurentian Drive Burlington north of the rail corridor, southwest of Cumberland Avenue
Current conditions at the proposed Burlington
Tap and Traction Power Substation site.
• The Burlington Tap/TPS is to be located on
a parcel of land situated east of 845
Laurentian Drive in Burlington, and
includes the existing Hydro One
Cumberland Transformer Station (TS). The
site is accessed via Cumberland Avenue.
• The parcel is currently a parking lot, short
driveway, the Cumberland TS with
associated transmission lines, and some
open space/vegetation. It is located
between a building supply operation to the
east and a manufacturer of transformers to
the west.
• The proposed positioning of the Tap/TPS is
at the southwest corner of the parcel,
adjacent to an industrial building, and is
currently open space/vegetation.
• The Tap/TPS property is owned by Hydro
One.
