Nomads News Official Newsletter of Nomads Golf Club Perth Western Australia
Welcome to the June edition of Nomads News.
Despite a record number of pre-game registrations, we managed a field of
48 players at our monthly game a Joondalup. There were, unfortunately, a
few withdrawals due to illness and other issues, but this did not deter from
having yet another great day... It has also proven a point that, irrespective
of costs, players would gladly turn up when we play quality courses such as
Joondalup. (The “Fr-Editor has taken note of this and will keep this in mind
whilst planning the 2020 Monthly Game Calendar)
In this issue of Nomads News we bring you an update on who has submitted
EOI’s to participate in the Magenta Shores Nationals. (pg. 4)
The Draw for Round 2 of the Jack Newton Knockout Cup and Round 1 of the
Jack Newton Knockout Plate has been done by SAMSON. Please flick over
to Pg. 5 for the Draw.
Fancy a trip to the UK in October? Nomads United Kingdom is hosting their
annual Gold Cup on 12 October ’19 at the PGA National Course, proud hosts
of 2 PGA events, followed by their monthly game on 13 October ’19 at
Brabazon, which has hosted an unprecedented 4 Ryder Cup events. See
Pg. 12 for details.
Having reached the half-way mark in our current golfing year, we are
including in this issue of Nomads News a proposed Game Day calendar for
2020 (See Pg.10) and are also gearing up for the year ahead. More details to
follow in forthcoming editions
Until Next Month……………Happy Golfing

Captain’s Corner
Our June game was held at Joondalup. We had a two tee start and
played the Quarry and Dune layout. A field of 48 players, including a 6
Prospective Members and Guests were treated to fair weather conditions
as it was earlier predicted that we would be washed away. Luckily we
only had to don rain gear on a few (and far between) occasions but didn’t
seem to affect the scores.
We had a fellow Nomad from Sunshine Coast join us for the day. Thanks for
the game and your company, Roy Gane. We hope you join us again in the
near future. It was great to play with Roy, as Joondalup was his home
course, when he lived in Perth and he gave our fourball some great tips. I’d
also like to welcome Ryan Able who has joined Nomads Perth, having
transferred his membership from Nomads Zambia. It was also great to see
Brandon Barnes back as a Full Member and at our monthly games. It great
to have you back and winning prizes.
The course at Joondalup is always in fantastic condition and is ranked as
one of the best courses in Australia, so it was great to play there. (As it
happens, we will be back there for our October, 6th Monthly Game). Even
though we, again, had a record-breaking number of Registrations, a few
last-minute drop outs, mainly due to the dreaded lurgi (flu) which is,
unfortunately, something we have to deal with during this time of the year.
Congratulation to all the winners of their respective divisions and well done
to Francois Du Toit and Gert Venter for racking up 41 and 40 points
respectively.
The second round of the Jack Newton Knockout Cup and the 1st round of
the Plate will be played at Wanneroo in July. There are a number of byes
but if you are scheduled to play a match then please ensure you register
as soon as possible. Good luck to you all.
Our next outing will be played at Wanneroo Golf Club on July 7th. Please
submit your registrations to ensure you don’t miss out on another good day
out on the course.
I’m looking forward to seeing you all in our new shirts and wearing your
new caps. (If you haven’t had the opportunity to sample one of the new
shirts, please see B Anderson straight after the game so we can determine
your correct size and have the shirt embroidered.)

ensure you submit your intentions to play at your earliest convenience.
