IMPORTANT!Is your article from one of
Taft’s subscription databasessuch as Gale Virtual Reference Library?
If you’re using an electronic databasesuch as the Gale Virtual Reference Library,
you may begin with Database
And then choose Reference Sourcefrom the list of Database content
For online Database articles, you’ll specify the name of the database
Leave DOI, URL and Database Accession Number fields blank;they are not needed at Taft.

Click on today to autofill the date
For both Print and Database sources,you’ll enter information about the article
and the Reference source it is in.
In an electronic databasethe information about your Reference source is at the beginning of the article
And so is the Title and Author of the article
Many databases provide a sample citation at the end of the article.
Notice it’s in MLA format here.
You can copy & paste the individual parts (author, article title, etc) into NoodleTools
Fill in information about the article: Author’s nameTitle of articlePage numbers
(Page numbers are not always available in an electronic database)
For the Reference Source itself, you’ll provide:Editor or Author
Title (and vol. # if given)Publisher and Place of Publication
Year of publicationEdition if needed (for example, 3rd)
You can look up the Reference Source in RhinoCatto easily find the information you need :
Title of the Reference SourceEditor
Place of publicationName of publisherDate of publication
You may also import the information from WorldCat using the ISBN number
(International Standard Book Number)
You can find the ISBN number in RhinoCat or in the Database(ISBN = International Standard Book Number)
Important!Be sure to verify that the
WorldCat result matches your sourcebefore you import it
Edit the imported information, if necessary
You would want to delete these, for instance
Choose Continue to import
ONE OTHER THING: Don’t check this box!If you do, the publication information of your source
will NOT appear in your bibliography
Choose Submit
Your bibliography with yournew Reference Source citation
You can edit, copy or delete the citation
Click on Footnote Format for the pop-up windowshowing the format for your first footnote
and subsequent notes.
Customize the example with the page number of your
quotation or paraphraseand NoodleTools will autofill the
footnotes above.
Note: Page numbers aren’t always available in electronic sources.
