Congratulations to everyone for getting through a very big term two! We are all so proud of what teachers and families have provided for the Noosaville students over the last ten weeks. It’s great to finally have our school almost back to normal. What is most important is that we have happy, confident and willing learners.

Once again thank you for your support and patience regarding the changes.

Playgroup Our exciting playgroup starts in term 3 on Friday 17 July. Ms Bec Smith and Prep teachers will be part of this program development. If you have younger children under school age, they are welcome. The program is the secret to a very smooth transition into Prep at Noosaville State School. Contact the school for more details by phoning 54403222 or email

School’s Facebook Page Don’t forget our Facebook page is a way in which we communicate events and celebrate activities. Have you liked us on Facebook yet? Our Facebook page is designed to keep parents better informed as to what is happening at our school. Our Facebook page is updated regularly with events, photos and news.

Camps and Excursions Term Three and Four Please be advised that we are waiting on further information from Education Queensland regarding guidelines for excursions and other events in Term Three and Term Four. We will provide further details to parents once more information is released. Unfortunately, the Year 6 Camp to Canberra needed to be cancelled for this year. Students and families were notified last week.

Report Cards Student report cards will now go home this term on Thursday 25 June. All reports will be emailed to families. As mentioned in previous correspondence these report cards will be modified due to COVID 19. Due to the extra week of student free days at the end of Term one, and the first five weeks of Term two being ‘learning from home’ across the state, reporting this Semester will be adjusted to reflect the modified nature of learning and assessment over this time. Please notify your child’s teacher if your email address has changed.

Inspiring STEM Podcasts Get inspired with the department’s new podcast series. Queensland STEM professionals chat with some of the state’s most impressive STEM professionals about the incredible work they are doing that impacts the lives of all of us. In the first episode Professor George Mellick talks about his ground breaking work into Parkinson’s. Enjoy your break with your family,

We were delighted to be able to organise a special NAIDOC event to finish term 2 on a high and a big thank you to Tribal Link for providing such engaging learning activities for our students. Every class participated in two activities – a bushtucker walk and a cultural art session. The bushtucker walk was through part of our cross-country track. Students were ‘prepared’ for the ‘bushtucker hunt’ and had a presentation about significance of the scar trees, the flora and fauna and the natural edible bounty! The new mural in the senior covered area, replacing one painted by students in 2004, depicts the Gubbi Gubbi totem, the kangaroo, our scar trees, shields and kookaburras – all linked to what students can see at Noosaville! Students also created their own ‘homing boomerangs’ from card and tried these out on the Oval. See page 5 for photos As we approach the end of this semester, teachers are finalising report cards, which will be distributed by email in week 10. Our core business is of course teaching and learning and reporting on student progress to families is a key element in the feedback process. Academic achievement is very important, but of equal importance is the rating for effort. At Noosaville we expect students to be the best they can be. Whilst we will be analysing the data of all student results, the school leadership team is very proud of how the vast majority of the

students are demonstrating that they ‘Care for their Learning’. I would encourage you to spend some time with your child and read through the report card, which will not only outline progress, but will also state a learning goal to focus on for next semester. If you have any questions or concerns about the report card, please make sure you contact the class teacher to schedule a conversation and possibly face to face meeting next term! It has certainly been an extraordinary term, and we look forward to a more ordinary term 3! Thank you to our whole school community –students, staff and families - for your contribution to an outstanding semester. Have a safe and happy holiday and we look forward to welcoming you all back on Monday 13 July. Alasdair Scott Deputy Principal

Be sure to keep an eye out for David and Jason in their Hi-Vis and give them a wave!

Sue has been a much-loved member of our Tuckshop team since September 2016 and has dedicated her time three days per week since. She has seen a change of guard in the Tuckshop, said goodbye and good luck to many graduating students and has been a huge part of some of our biggest Tuckshop events like District Cross Country and Italian Days. Sue has served thousands of lunches to hundreds of our hungry Noosaville Students with a genuine kindness and caring approach. Sue, we will miss you greatly and wish you all the best in your retirement. Enjoy your travels and long lunches.

The year 3s have written procedures in the role of a character from Charlotte’s Web. Their characters had to explain a procedure to another character. We had some wonderful Char-lottes explaining how to spin a web, some mischievous Wilburs explain how to escape from a pig pen and some cantankerous rats explaining how to scrounge for food at a Funfair. The stu-dents made costumes and practised their speaking skills as well. It was a lot of fun!

2020 Colour Fun Run Lock this date into your calendars – Wednesday 16 September. This year we are using a different provider – School Fun Run and next term they are launching a campaign called “Rainbow After the Storm.” Noosa Today Article - Noosaville school plans to get colourful for Fun Run The goal is to get as many schools on the Sunshine Coast as possible to conduct a Crazy Colour Day in the first week of November. It’s all about showing Sunny Coast kids that their future remains colourful, bright and vibrant as together we paint the Sunny Coast Rainbow!

Given that we are running ours in September, we have been asked to host local media at our event and show other schools how it is done….no pressure! More information will be emailed to families following the holidays. I am looking forward to this - see what we can do for this event….should be a good one!

Senior Oval Shade Covers We are getting closer with this one. We are just waiting to finalise the start date.

Shade Sail Seating Area Quotes have now been returned and will be passed onto the P&C for discussion. It is only through the amazing fundraising initiatives and hard work or our P&C that we could even be thinking about improving this aspect of the school. Big, big thanks to the P&C for all that the committee members and school community do to support our students and infrastructure.

What our Noosaville Students Get Up To: Don’t forget to send me any information or photos of what your children have been getting up to. I Know it’s a bit tricky at the moment with so many community sports not able to commence, but I am happy to publish any physical activity stories.

Supporters Thank you to our generous sponsors/supporters of our sports program.

Last week, all the Year 4 Italian students enjoyed a lesson in the kitchen learning how to make Insalata di Pasta. This was a

culmination of their learning about Italian food traditions and the learning of simple instructional verbs such as Cut, Dice, Pour, Add, Put and Mix in Italian. I was so impressed by how the students wanted to have a go at trying new foods they may not have tasted before. Many expressed

their enthusiasm for trying a new food experience by coming back for ‘seconds’ and saying it was “Deliziosa!”

This week they will be filling out and decorating their own personal recipe card to take home. I am sure many Noosaville SS families with children in Year 4 will be eating a traditional Italian Pasta Salad made by their own little mini chefs over the holidays! I must say this crazy year has been flying by. Until term 3….

Arrivederci!

Great news and many thanks to Mr Luhrs for his organisation of the shade cloths for the undercover area of the oval. They are currently being made by a local supplier. Hooray! We are looking forward to having them up soon to provide an additional shady place for our students.

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Sue from the tuck-shop. Sue has been an amazing addition and support. We will miss her. As a whole school community we would like to extend our thanks to Sue for her contribution and we wish her all the best in her retirement!
