Swim ClassesWant to learn how to swim?Maybe just improve your stroke?We have swim classes for every age and level of swimmer. We even have private swim classes that provide total focus on your child. Classes are 30 minutes in length. Monday through Friday for 2 weeks.

Beginning and Advanced Toddler and Level 1 classes will have a maximum of 3 students per instructor.

Level 2-5 classes will have a maximum of 6 students per instructor.

Parent/Child classes will havea maximum of 10 students perinstructor.

Private classes offer one-on-oneinstruction.

Adult Swim Lessons will have a maximum of 3 students per instructor.

RegistrationYou may register at these sites Monday through Friday. Registration for the NOR Pool and North Beardsley Pool will be the taken at the District office at 405 Galaxy Ave; Greenacres pool will be taken at the District office at 2014 Calloway Drive.

American Red CrossClass DescriptionsParent and Child (6 mos to 5yrs.)Any child afraid of water when unaccompanied should be in this class. New skills: Getting wet, water entry, exploring the pool front and back float and glide, blowing bubbles and rolling back to front and front to back. Arm action on front and back. Using side of pool steps and ladder to exit.

Beginning Toddler (3 to 5yrs.)Introduction to Water SkillsNew Skills: Enter and exit water safely, blowing bubbles, open eyes under water, float on front and back, roll over, arm and leg actions on front and back, and safety skills.(Exit Skills Assessment: Enter unassisted, bob 5 times to chin level and safely exit the water. Participants can walk, travel along the gutter or swim. Float on front with support for 3 seconds, roll to back with assistance and float on back with support for 3 seconds.)

Advanced Toddler (3 to 5yrs.)Fundamental Aquatic SkillsNew Skills: Jumping into water, submerge entire head, front and back glide, combined arm and leg action on front, finning, sculling and safety skills. (Exit Skills Assessment: Step from side into chest-deep water, move into front float for 5 seconds, roll over to a back float. Push off and swim using a combination of arm and leg actions.) Five year olds who successfully complete advanced toddler are eligible for Level 1.

(Exit Skills Assessment: Jump into chest-deep water from the side, swim front crawl for 15 yards with face in the water and rhythmic breathing pattern( to front or side), maintain position by treading or floating for 30 seconds and swim back crawl 15 yards.)

Level 4Stroke ImprovementNew Skills: Dive from compact position, swim underwater, surface dive, open turn on front and back, breast stroke, elementary backstroke, swim on side with scissors kick and safety skills. (Exit Skills Assessment: Perform a feet-first entry into chest deep water, swim front crawl for 25 yards, maintain position on back for 1 minute in deep water (float or sculling), swim backstroke for 25 yards, and swim breaststroke for 25 yards.)

Level 5Stroke RefinementNew Skills: Shallow dive from side, survival float, flip turn, treading water, side stroke and safety skills. (Exit Skills Assessment: Perform a shallow dive into deep water, swim front crawl for 50 yards, maintain position on back for 2 minutes in deep water (float or sculling) and swim backstroke for 25 yards. Swim breast stroke for 25 yards, tread water for 2 minutes and swim butterfly for 25 yards.)

Getting your child into the right class.Parent and child classes are for those children who are five years of age or younger and are afraid of the water or cry when the parent leaves them.

Toddler classes are for children three to five years of age who are comfortable in the water and do not need a parent present. Children who are six years of age or older and just learning to swim should enroll in Level 1.

Adult Swim Lessons - NEW CLASS!Participants will be evaluated for skill level and lessons will be altered to suit individual ability from introduction to water skills to competitive/fitness work out.

Diving Lessons Learn to dive with individualized lessons. Lessons may consist of basic dives from the pool side or more skillful dives using the one meter board.

Guard Start - NEW Learn the skills and gain the foundation for saving a life! This program is intended for those aspiring to become lifeguards and are between the ages of 11 and 14. Participants should bring a swim suit, towel and sunscreen.
