ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL’S NEWS - Trinity Hook
We have had a busy week with staff attending many professional development
sessions. Mrs Corrigan is attending the 5 day “Stronger Smarter” course this
week. Seven staff members completed SSP training with Miss Emma last
Saturday and they have been implementing new ideas into their SSP sessions. I
have also attended the next Kids Matter training. Training will continue next week
with myself on a course on Monday, Mrs Corrigan and Mrs Hamilton attending
LMBR training on Wednesday and Mrs Halligan attending a professional
development course on Friday.
Next Tuesday, we will be conducting our evacuation drill. This event will start at
9.30am and will involve the Wallarah Rural Fire Brigade. We will be enacting our
“off-site” evacuation procedures and taking students across the road to Baxter
Park. If you are at school at this time and hear the evacuation bell, please
proceed to the oval. If you arrive after it has commenced please report to staff at
the park.

Kindergarten News
Is has been very interesting watching the chicks this week. They are growing so
fast and many have already sprouted some adult feathers. Students have loved
having cuddles and watching them interact with each other. We had one egg that
didn't hatch. I explained that sometimes this happens in nature. Students asked to
have a look inside. After cracking the shell we found a chick that was almost fully
grown. We were able to see how it was attached to the yolk, which was its food
source. The students decided to name it Chilli and we buried it in the corner of our
garden and said some nice words about it. The chickens will go to their new
homes tomorrow. Thank you so much to Heidi Agland for finding a home for our
beautiful roosters.
Next week is a busy week. I am away on Monday at the third Student Wellbeing
Initiative session. Mrs Black will be teaching Kindergarten. On Tuesday, the
school will be practising our evacuation procedures and this time the Wallarah
RFS members will be involved and we will 'evacuate' to the park across the road.
Thursday morning is the next 2017 Kindergarten Transition Session and later in
the day the whole school will join in with singing the National simultaneous Music
Count Us In song. Bookclub orders are due on the Friday.

Our class have continued to discuss how to play fairly and put this into practise
by playing class games. Students may bring in their own games on a Friday to
use the skills we have been talking about such as playing by the rules, taking
turns and accepting bad luck.
1/2 have also been singing the song ‘Let it Play’ in readiness for ‘Music Count
Us In’ next Thursday, 3 November, when schools all over Australia will sing the
same song at the same time.

Class 2/3 News
Congratulations to the students who scored 100% in their spelling test last
week: Chase, Sari, Alby, Wil, Evie.A, Billy, Talia, Bonnie and Taj. What a
fantastic effort, 2/3!
What a busy week of learning we have had this week! The students have been
learning about endangered animals and have been writing descriptions about
these animals using pronouns and adjectives. They also wrote their own ‘Who
Am I?’ riddle for the class to guess which animal they were describing.
In Maths, we have been exploring Area and revising Multiplication and Division.
We experimented with vibrations and sound this week in Science, using a
mobile phone, our own voice, balloons and a guitar! Ask your child what they
discovered!
Your child may have brought home a note this week listing any library books
they still have out on loan. Please return these books to the library next week
as the library is doing a stocktake in Week 5.
A note also went home this week about the school disco, happening on the
Wednesday, 9 November (Week 5).
There is a lot of lost property in the bucket just outside our door. If you are
missing any items, please pop in and check here.

Class 3/4 News Congratulations to all of the students who scored 100% in their spelling test last
week: Alex, Maddison, Torhi, Daniel, Darcy and Annie.
Some students are continuing to work hard with their times tables. Next week
our class will be looking at Time as well as some assessment during maths.
A note was sent home last week outling the Stage 2 H2O excursion which will
be held on Tuesday, 15 November (Week 6). Permission notes and money
must be returned by Friday, 4 November if you want your child to attend. No
late notes will be accepted.
Please feel free to come and discuss anything that you like or if time is making
such a conversation difficult please send a note in with your child and I will get
back to you as soon as possible.

5/6 Class News
A letter went home this week to all Year 5 parents concerning the organisation
for the Year 6 Farewell. If you didn’t receive it, check your child’s bag.
Next Thursday I begin leave for two weeks. The teacher relieving me will be
Mrs Renee Richards.
This week we have completed our Mathematics assessment and begun revising
those areas where the students had difficulty. We have also been measuring
angles using a protractor. Narratives are also being completed as part of the

Quote of the
week! Being kind is never
wasted — unknown
Did You Know?
Kindness is contagious.
When we’re kind, we inspire others to be kind, and it actually creates a ripple effect that spreads outwards to our friends’ friends’ friends — to three degrees of separation.
