DOOR HAND

All doors are denoted by the direction of their swing, or their “hand.” Before a door can be hung, its swing must be known.

Currently, there are two methods used to determine the hand of a door. The first method, the one most straightforward and commonly used, designates the door simply as Right Hand (RH) or Left Hand (LH). To determine the swing of the door, simply face the hinge pin side of the door and note the location of the door knob. If the knob is to the left, it is a Left Hand door. If the knob is to the right, it is a Right Hand door.

The other method currently in use designates the door as either Right Hand Reverse (RHR) or Left Hand Reverse (LHR). To determine the swing of the door in this method, face the outside of the door. The outside is the street side of an entrance door, the corridor (hall) side of a room door, or the side opposite the hinge pins on a communicating door (a door that connects two rooms). If the door opens toward you and the hinges are on the left, it is a Left Hand Reverse. If the hinges are on the right, it is a Right Hand Reverse.

Although both methods are equally accurate and achieve the required results, the first system is pre-ferred. Before hanging a door, make sure that all con-cerned agree on the method that will be used. This will prevent confusion down the line when the pre-hung doors are actually being installed.

Clamping. The 3800 uses 9 clamps during lite cutting and standard lock and latch boring (4 at each end plus lock template clamp).

Safety. During lite or lock cutting, the 3800 operator keeps both hands on the control handles.

8-ft Capable. Standard on the 3800. Change-over for doors from 6’6” to 8’0” requires no tools on the 3800. Left hand clamp arm moves freely in and out on linear bearings when clamps are not engaged.

Power edge prep. 3800 edge prep (latch drilling and faceplate mortising) is powered and controlled from panel on the lite cutter head.

Door cut-off. The 3800 may also be used to cut down the height of a door by positioning the end of the door beyond the frame of the machine. Use the template clamps to clamp a straight edge (such as the end of a lite template) to the surface of the door. Then draw the lite cutter-head around the clamp arm to the “outside” of the machine and cut off the door.

As a result it is easy for the operator to position the jamb incorrectly. This kit gives the operator a positive location to locate the edge of the jamb that is farther from the nailer. There is no longer any need to layout the door. The operator only needs to know the distance from the top of the door to the top of each hinge location. The scaled index bar fits in the same location as the standard quick change index bar. PRe-95 magnum elevatOR mOtOR uPgRaDe KitThis kit is for all Magnum and Pro models with a serial number of DJ-1999 and lower. The elevator motor used on this series Magnum was changed by the manufacturer about 10 years ago. The new style motor is not strong enough to support the top section of a Magnum. When the new style motor is used as an elevator motor for a Mag-num, the top section will fall. This kit contains a larger motor that will support the top section of a Magnum. Because the motor is longer it must be mounted differently.26-0033-00

95/signatuRe magnum KeyeD e-stOP RePlacement KitThis kit is for all Magnum models with a serial number of DJ-2001 through DJ-2673. The Machines in the affected serial number range used a keyed e-stop switch. These switches were either the S&S or the AB E-series. Both of these have been discontinued by the manu-facturer. With serial number DJ-2674 the control panel was changed and the keyed e-stop was no longer required. This kit replaces the e-stop switch with the AB F-series keyed switch.26-6816-00
