Caterpillar Class have settled well into Norman Gate School and have been getting used to the new routines. Our topic this term is ‘Me’ and we have been looking at our reflections in mirrors and thinking about what makes us special. We have been building relationships with our key adults and classmates while we explore the new classroom. In Caterpillar Class we have Attention Autism sessions daily. These sessions help us to build our attention and help us to learn in fun and engaging ways. We are doing so well in these sessions we have already started stage 3 where we are turn-taking in a group. On Mondays Mrs. Oakley takes us up to the ‘Wild Woods’. We have been exploring in our outside environment and been resourceful in finding different equipment for making music. We play games in the trees and explore with all our senses. We love singing in Caterpillars and have been singing traditional nursery rhymes. Recently we have started ‘Boogie Mites’ which is supporting our early letters and sounds development. On Wednesdays, Mrs Newman has been joining us to share music and movement sessions. We enjoy hearing the new songs and exploring with the different instruments. We have been exploring different fruit and vegetables in our cooking lesson, using our senses to smell, see, touch and taste. Making fruit salads and pizza faces to share at snack and take home. Headteacher News Dear Parents, carers and families,

It has been a very busy start to this new academic year and we are trying

some new things this year.

and each event will have an activity but the focus will always be 'Making A

Difference.

Meet & Greet - Once a month, we have a bookable event for

existing parents. These will be workshop style and an opportunity to explore

key things. If you feel there is a topic you would like us to cover please let us

know.

Meet & Greet dates:

Fundraising:

We have new spaces and we would like to fund equipment to go in them.

We think that a Sensory room is a space our children would really benefit from

and it will cost approximately £10,000. The Friends of Norman Gate are

working really hard to organise events and secure grants to raise these funds.

Our first big fundraiser will be the tandem skydive!

Miss Mundy and I will be jumping out of a plane on 26th October 2019. We

would be very grateful for all, and any support, you can give for this very

good cause whether it be a donation or a share of the event on social

media. Please wish us luck - we are very scared!

We have INSET day on Monday so I look forward to seeing the children on

Tuesday.

Warm regards, Mrs Wilkie
