Anatomy and Physiology CampIf you have a science aptitude, and are considering a future in any field of health science, this camp is for you! These one-week camps will provide high school students with hands-on experience studying the major organ systems of the body, as well as discussion about diseases and injuries that affect these systems. Staff will work with each student to broaden their understanding of basic sciences and health sciences. There are no prerequisites except a strong interest in the sciences and adequate science and math background to understand the labs and lectures. After each full day of exploration in the Science of Anatomy and Physiology, evening group activities are offered under the supervision of the college-student counselors.Session III is an advanced camp, for those that have already participated in Anatomy and physiology camps, or for those that want to take the subjects of anatomy and physiology to a higher level.

The World-Renowned Marching Sound Machine, whose performances include the 2011 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California, and multiple performances at the Honda Battle of the Bands in Atlanta, Georgia; The Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band, which play standard professional literature and works, to increase the level of musicianship in students who are both music majors and non-music majors; And The MSM Percussion Ensemble, which features percussion section members of the Marching Sound Machine, and allows students to showcase their musical abilities on percussive instrumentation to include marimba, xylophone, vibraphone, and timpani. GEAR UP North CarolinaGEAR UP stands for “Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs” and is a nation-al initiative whose mission is to significantly increase the number of students who are prepared to enter and suc-ceed in postsecondary education. GEAR UP is funded through a competitive seven-year matching grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Join MarineQuest and explore the ocean through a new lens as you become a certified PADI National Geograph-ic diver! While diving into this exciting underwater world, professional dive instructors will work with you to improve your buoyancy and navigation skills as you set off to complete an underwater exploration project using digital photography. Whether you are completing a photo journal of local marine life or doing a photo docu-mentation of local shipwrecks, your chosen project will provide you with the opportunity to think, observe and document like a real marine scientist. Jump aboard the R/V Humpback and travel to an undeveloped barrier island and experience first-hand how natural and artificial barriers are used to protect coastlines. Wake ForestLENS @ Wake Forest (Learn, Experi-ence, Navigate, Solve)LENS is a three-week, residential experience at Wake Forest University that offers high school students the opportunity to do something different and challenging during their summer. Thirty-six students will be chosen to participate in the program designed as an “incubator for change-makers.” The academic theme is “Sustainability: Operate Locally and Extend Globally.” Wake Forest University professors and experts will engage students in the biological, ecological, political, economic, social, and legal aspects of sustainability. The Experiential Classroom will offer participants hands-on opportunities to explore scientific concepts underlying current issues of sustainability. Through Living Labs, participants will explore local businesses and organizations incorporating principles of sustainability. Small Group sessions will facilitate a platform for participants to research a community sustainability need, test ideas, and develop an action plans. In addition to interactive learning, LENS offers a variety of fun activities to introduce you to the social life of college.LENS accepts and reviews applications on a rolling basis.
