Monthly Highlights--Collaborative Lessons

Thesis papers are underway in the HS North Media Center with several classes, including the Freshman Humanities classes, working on this significant undertaking. Students are working on database search skills, website credibility activities, paraphrasing direct quotes into online Noodletools notecards, and using other organizational tools like Scoop.it and Google Docs to create successful papers on many self-selected topics.

The HS North Libguides page received over 9,800 hits this month. We are so proud of this testament to the students’ use of our database sources and how-to-tutorials made accessible to students from school and home.

Monthly Highlights--Events in the Media Center

The book club met twice in February to discuss Room by Emma Donohue. The book club was the first group to pilot the new Nook Simple Touch e-readers. They loved the experience and we are now circulating the readers to any interested student.

Mrs. Stout intends to hold follow-up up workshops for any teachers who are interested in continuing work on infusing these tools into their lessons.
