Inter School Swimming Carnival
Congratulations to our North Shore State School swim team
for their outstanding efforts at Monday’s Inter School Swimming Carnival.
Our team was successful in bringing home two trophies for the day, First
Place and Best Improved School. An enormous thank you needs to go our
staff, students and parents who gave up their time before school to train
for this event. Their progress and development over the short period of
training time directly contributed to the success on the day. Bravo, Mr
Edwards, Mrs Holder, Mrs Gardem and MissCarsten for giving up their
time to support our students. Bring on 2020!
Cross Country
A reminder that our Inter-house Cross Country in on Friday 29 March. Mr
Edwards will be walking the new track with all of our classes prior to the
race. Due to the stage 2 construction there will be some changes to the
running track. We will also have a designated spectator area for all of our
parents who wish to support and encourage their children. I would also
like to encourage all students, staff and parents to proudly wear their
team colours on the day.
PE and Arts Awards
We are pleased to announce that we have 2 new class awards that will be
presented to classes at our assembly each Friday morning. North Shore
State School has asked our PE and Arts teachers find the class that has
put in the most effort to improve their learning each week and they will be
given a trophy that will be kept in their classroom for the week.
Congratulations to our first ever weekly award winners.
PE—4A
Arts—3A
We encourage all of our classes to strive to be each week’s winners of this
highly coveted trophy. Congratulations to all of our Students of the Week
and North Shore Stars. Keep up the amazing work.
Attendance
Can I encourage all parents and carers to ensure that they make contact
with the school when students are away for any reason. As part of our
Attendance Policy we will be proactively following up with all of our unex-
plained absences on a fortnightly basis. All students with recorded unex-
plained absences will be sent home a letter that allows parents and carers
to provide details to allow us to update our records. Please return these
forms to the classroom teacher directly or the Administration office. We
appreciate your support in ensuring Every Day Counts.

Defence News
On Wednesday 24th April 2019, we will be holding our school ANZAC Day commemoration.
ANZAC Day is for the community to recognize the service and sacrifice of not only our original ANZACS, but also that
of all the service men and women who have followed in their footsteps. I would like to take this opportunity to personal-
ly invite each and every one of our serving members and their families to attend our ANZAC commemoration.
North Shore State School has a large Defence population and our personnel and their families are invaluable to the
school community so this chance to acknowledge the importance of your role will give your children a huge sense of
pride and belonging.
Members who wish to attend in uniform are welcome to do so. It will be a short, simple service so it won’t require a
large portion of your day.
I look forward to seeing you.
