2016 marks the 40th anniversary of AkzoNobel’s global Acoat Selected network and the 25th anniversary of Acoat Selected in North America.

AkzoNobel pioneered the idea of a premium body shop network in the 1970s when it established Acoat Selected as a business improvement program for customers of Sikkens, one of AkzoNobel’s premium vehicle refinishes brands. Its members, which include both independently owned body shops and body shop groups, are recognized as repair industry leaders, advancing their own performance and that of the industry as a whole. Today, Acoat Selected is a thriving international organization with a multiple country and regional networks working to strengthen vehicle refinishing businesses across the globe. Over the years, members have benefited from training on the latest technology and processes, meeting key industry partners and work providers, as well as sharing valuable knowledge and experiences. This has helped them build more sustainable repair shops, whose quality and reliability is underpinned by their Acoat Selected certification. “We set up Acoat Selected to help Sikkens customers expand their customer base,” said Simon Parker, Managing Director of AkzoNobel’s Vehicle Refinishes business. “The fact that it is getting stronger and stronger today demonstrates our on-going commitment to body shop performance, enabling improvements to be achieved through true partnership.” Parker adds: “AkzoNobel is far more than just a coatings supplier. Imagine being with a group of one hundred shop owners for the sole purpose of exchanging business growth ideas. That is exactly what happens at Acoat Selected Performance Group meetings.

Acoat Selected Performance Group members meet to share successes, find solutions to problems, and make new relationships with like minded shop owners from across North America. The wealth of knowledge and experience present at these meetings is nothing short of awe inspiring.

The meetings consist of two primary functional arrangements - group activities and individual sub-group sessions. Group activities include keynote speakers, idea contests, panel discussions, early bird classes, awards ceremonies, and a host of other venue specific functions. Members mingle and converse with the group at large during these membership-wide activities. Many of the people in attendance remark about how much they value the conversations that take place at the group functions. With so many people in attendance you are sure to find someone who has solved the problems you face or has had a great business improvement idea you can implement. The second functional arrangement, sub-group sessions, is where the hard work gets done. Similar in method to a conventional 20 group, members of like sized shops analyze financial data, formulate improvement strategies, assist each other in problem solving, and share experiences. Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International AirportThe airport has two terminals where passengers check-in and claim bags, the Domestic Terminal and the Maynard H. Jackson, Jr. International Terminal. The Domestic Terminal is on the west side of the airport. The Maynard H. Jackson, Jr. International Terminal is located on the east side of the airport, and includes Customs and Immigration services for international passengers.

Seven parallel concourse buildings accommodate passenger boarding and are located between the two terminals. Concourse T is connected to the Domestic Terminal. The remaining six concourses from west to east are Concourses A, B, C, D, E, and F. Concourses A–D and T are used for domestic flights, while Concourses E and F are used for international flights. The terminals and concourses are connected by an underground Transportation Mall which passes under the center of each concourse.
