OUR IOWA pie contest! Please take a minute to check out the hard copy book on the coffee table near the fire-place in the front sitting room. The company “Our Iowa” is offering a drawing with the winner to receive 50 pies to share with your friends! Just find the small pink flower (shown on the example sheet) on a photo in the book, identify the page with your name on an index card provided, and drop in the box. The entries will be sent to Our Iowa in one envelope by the deadline. Please sub-mit by Dec 10! We’ll have a pie party!!!

December Family Night An evening of Madrigals and holiday music by the Ames High Madrigal Singers! Sun, Dec 10, 7:15 pm, GR

Movie Night Come see “A Walk in the Woods” based on the acclaimed bestseller by Bill Bryson (who grew up in Des Moines). This celebrated travel writer challenges him-self to hike the Appalachian Trail and his long-lost friend Katz joins him. Though the language is sometimes bawdy, the spectac-ular scenery and the excellent performances by Robert Redford, Nick Nolte and Emma Thompson make for enjoyable entertain-ment. (Please note: the temperature in the Green Room runs cool. Wearing a sweater or bringing a blanket may be wise.) Sun, Dec 17, 6:00 pm, GR (right after 1st Baptist Christmas Vesper Service)

New Year’s Day Potluck Volunteers for the New Year’s Day Pot Luck committee are Co-chairs Diane Parsons & Janie Lohnes along with Jerry Parsons, Doug Finnemore, Mary Gillette and Anna Johnson. Thank you all! Save the date—Mon, New Year’s Day, 12:30 pm.

Music All Around on Thu, Dec 14! 2nd Chair Brass Enjoy the sounds of tuba and euphonium with 2nd Chair Brass in the HCC. 6:00 pm.

Violin Student Recital Michelle Bell (of the Fiddle Chics) will bring her students, age 5-13 years old, to share their violin music with us. Her family mem-bers will be along to give us more rousing tunes. 6:30 pm, GR
