Distance Education Plan Goal

Northdale Superintendent’s Academy (NSA) and EBR Virtual Academy (EBRV)

are committed to providing the optimal learning experiences to all students.

Distance Learning will require students to access offline and online instructional

opportunities from home or elsewhere in order to maintain instruction during

unplanned school closures and to continue the learning process. Teachers will

communicate directly with students and families to share school content,

assignments, due dates, academic progress, etc.

Deployment Plan

• Northdale faculty informed parents of Chromebook distribution process and dates

via phone calls. April 22, 23, 28, 29, 30, 2020 are the scheduled dated for device

deployment. The school administration and staff will distribute Chromebooks for

student use at home via curbside pickup.

• Students and parents will remain in their vehicle during Chromebook distribution.

Students and parents will not be allowed to enter the school building.

• A Technology Use Agreement signed by the parent and student must be on file

prior to the release of the device. Devices that are received by parent/student for

at home use will be documented on a spreadsheet.

• Parents and students with concerns regarding student technology access or

technical support should email Mrs. Green ([email protected]).

The current student and teacher schedules are subject to change as needed to enhance distance

learning instructional delivery.



Instructional Platforms

● Teachers will deliver instruction using G Suite for Education, Microsoft

Teams, and Edgenuity.

● Microsoft Teams and G Suite are communication and collaboration platforms

that bring chat, video meetings, and file storage together to allow teachers to

create learning environments and connect with colleagues in professional

learning.

● Edgenuity is a learning platform that offers standards-aligned video-based

curriculum for blended learning environments.

Distance Learning Instructional Delivery

● On Monday through Thursday each class will consists of 30 minutes of live

instruction and 20 minutes for the completion of assigned tasks and/or

participate in intervention groups with the teacher. Support plans will be

implemented for students with disabilities.

● Students will complete independent assignments, and schedule an Office

Hours appointment with their teachers for assistance with assignments on

Friday as needed.

● Weekly assignments and assessments will be graded and entered in the grade

book.

● Student attendance will be recorded to ensure proper continuum of learning.

Teacher Office Hours

Teachers will be available during Office Hours to provide instructional support.

Students may schedule an appointment for teacher assistance during Office

Hours via email, Google Classroom Meet, Microsoft Teams, Edgenuity email, or

phone call, but should not attempt to initiate a video or audio chat outside of

Office Hours.

● Mondays – Friday 1:20 pm – 2:30 pm

Faculty/Staff Meetings

● Administrative faculty meeting content will center around the analysis of the

Distance Learning Plan, implementation enhancement options, and school

district updates.

● Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings will be facilitated by the

Teacher Leader with support from the administration. PLC meetings address

the professional development needs of teachers, and effective planning and

delivery of instruction. Meetings will be conducted on Tuesdays and

Wednesdays during teacher planning blocks.

Communication Plan

Teachers must notify parents of student performance and disseminate

information weekly. Communication channels for school staff, students, and

parents are:

Student and Family Expectations for Distance Learning

● All instruction and assignments will be graded

and averaged into the student’s final

cumulative grade and will be used to determine

promotion and graduation.

● Students are expected to logon to their live

classes each week during the designated class

times through Google Classroom, Microsoft

Teams, or Edgenuity.

● Students are expected to be engaged in and

assignments daily.

● Assignments issued by teachers and are to be

completed and submitted by the due date

● Intervention sessions will be provided after

class instruction as needed.

● Students should schedule an appointment with

teachers during Office Hours for additional

academic support,

● Parents are encouraged to reach out to

individual teachers via email for informational

purposes or to schedule an online conference.

Student Success Team

● The School Social Worker, Counselors, and Student Advocate will serve as

the Student Success Team (SST) and maintain a Google Classroom site to

support students.

● The SST is a problem solving and coordinating structure that assists

students, families, and teachers to seek positive solutions for maximizing

student potential.
