District FFA
Hello Northeast District,
Boy am I excited for this year! The next twelve months will
be filled with learning, growing, meeting new people, con-
tests, and of course, fun! I not only look forward to getting to
know the new District Officer team and all the advisors, but
also meeting a variety of young individuals who love wear-
ing the blue corduroy jacket. District and state contests are
being scheduled right now and are sure to be competitive and
enjoyable. I look forward to seeing a bunch of FFA members
at each of these contests!

for his SAE. Throughout his project he has
gained extensive knowledge and has taken
a leadership role in the operation of the
farm.
Chris Gitch of the Sumner-
Fredericksburg FFA chapter was a
finalist in the area of Ag Business. He
started working for Sumner Electric for his
SAE, but he gradually gained the skills

important step in continuing his business.
Cody is his chapter’s vice president and
his favorite FFA memory is attending
Washington Leadership Conference.
Justin Stewart of the Oelwein FFA
chapter was a finalist in Ag Business.
His SAE is in crop production; he owns
and farms 25 acres. He says the most influ-

The best things about FFA for Justin are
expanding his leadership, communication
and job skills.
David Anderegg of the Tri-Star
FFA chapter is the 2011 Star in Agricul-
tural Production. His SAE is composed of
560 acres of cropland, four dairy cattle,
eight beef animals, and two market lambs.
He is his chapter president and plans to

She owns 22 dairy cows for her SAE pro-

I think the best thing about FFA is
the connections you can make with
other members. There are so many
opportunities to meet other people
who are interested in the same
things, agriculture and leadership.

My favorite FFA memory would
be getting announced for the NW
VP of the NE District. The feeling
was astonishing. I almost tripped
on the steps as I was going on the
stage. Then as I was standing
there, all I could do was smile. All
of the congratulations afterwards
made it my favorite memory.

If I could meet one person, past or
present, it would be George Wash-
ington. He was a great leader, and
he still inspires many people to
take the initiative to inspire others
to do their best. I would also like
to thank him for leading us to win
the Revolution.
This is the first of four newsletters for the District throughout the year. In
future newsletters, I would like to in-clude articles submitted by chapters. These may be about chapter achieve-
ments, special events, or general news. Articles may be submitted by email to [email protected]. Any comments, concerns, corrections,
and suggestions would be greatly ap-preciated!

Meet Your District Officers
District Leadership Camp will be held at
Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo.
At this camp, members will have the oppor-
tunity to develop their leadership potential
through a variety of workshops led by dis-
trict and state officers. This is also a great
opportunity to meet other FFA members
throughout the Northeast District. The date
is not yet set for DLC, but updates will be
posted on the District website and Face-
book page. We hope to see many FFA
members at the 2011 District Leadership
Camp!
