MOKOPANE – Jabulani, die nuwe buffelbul by die Mokopane Biodiversity Conservation Centre - meer bekend as die Mokopane Wildteelsentrum – het groot spore om vol te staan. Die vorige teelbul het nooit ‘n naam gekry nie, maar was in die twee jaar wat hy hier gewoon het, die vader van 11 kalfies.
Jabulani, ‘n bul van enorme proporsies, is in Desember verlede jaar vanaf die Pretoria Dieretuin na die Wildteelsentrum verskuif as deel van die Nasionale Dieretuin se bestuursprogram om inteling te voorkom. Sy eerste spruite word in November verwag.
Net soos Jabulani, is sy voorganger na ‘n nuwe bestemming verplaas, maar hy is kort na sy oorplasing ongelukkig dood.
Daar word huidiglik belangrike buffelnavorsing by die Wildteelsentrum gedoen. Dr. André Ganswindt van die Universiteit van Pretoria se departement vir dierekunde en entimologie is in samewerking met ander organisasies en belangegroepe besig met ‘n studie na die verwantskap tussen buffelsiektes en die stresvlakke van buffels. Wildteelsentrum bestuurder, Mark Howitt sê dit is die eerste keers dat sulke navorsing op buffels gedoen word.

LEPHALALE – Bekommerde inwoners van Onverwacht het hierdie week glo data-insamelaars van DDP Valuers gekonfronteer nadat dié glo foto’s van hul huise geneem het en allerlei vrae oor hul eiendom gevra het. Met navrae het dit egter duidelik geword dat DDP Valuers deur die Lephalale Munisipaliteit aangestel is om die waardasierol vir Lephalale op te stel.
“In terme van artikel 41 van die Wet op Plaaslike Regering: Munisipale Eiendomsbelasting, 2004 (Wet no. 6 van 2004), mag data-insamelaars ‘n eiendom betree en inspekteer vir die doeleindes van die waardasie,” het die munisipaliteit in hierdie week se kennisgewing laat weet.
Die probleem is egter dat die data-insamelaars identifikasie by hul moet dra en dat die kaarte teen Woensdag nog by die Lephalale Munisipaliteit gelê het vir finale goedkeuring. “Ons sal binne hierdie week nog ‘n hul kaartjies uitreik en seker maak dat elkeen ‘n ID-kaartjie by hom of haar sal dra ten alle tye,” het Reinier van Niekerk, projekbestuurder by DDP Valuers verduidelik.
Volgens van Niekerk het DDP reeds lugfoto’s laat neem, maar is dit baie belangrik vir akkurate waardasies van eiendomme dat die data-insamelaars soveel moontlik inligting oor eiendomme insamel. Die inligting wat benodig word sluit in hoeveel motorhuise en afdakke ‘n woning het sowel as die tipe dak en of daar byvoorbeeld ‘n swembad is. Verder word die eiendom se bouplanne ook getrek om die maatskappy toe te laat om die eiendom
se markwaarde te bepaal.“Ons verkies dat ‘n data-insamelaar byvoorbeeld nie in ‘n erf sonder die eienaar se toestemming ingaan nie, maar ons vra vir samewerking waar moontlik,” het van Niekerk gesê.
Die waardasierol sal teen Januarie 2013 aan die Lephalale Munisipaliteit oorgegee word waarna alle grond- en huiseienaars ‘n tydperk van tussen 30 tot 60 dae sal hê om dit te bevestig of beswaar aan te teken. Hierdie proses sal deur middel van kennisgewings in die koerant geskied, maar briewe word ook gewoonlik saam met grondbelasting-rekeninge uitgestuur om die eienaars in kennis te stel van die nuwe waardasie.
DDP Valuers is tans besig met Onverwacht en sal dan uitbeweeg na Ellisras, Marapong en omliggende gebiede.
Plase moet ook gewaardeer word en Van Niekerk sê dat daar met Boereverenigings geskakel sal word voordat enigiemand plase betree.
Enige iemand wat meer inligting soek kan mnr MS Langa by 014 763 2193 skakel by die Lephalale Munisipaliteit.
Indien enige persoon verdag voorkom en nie met die nodige identifikasie vorendag kan kom nie, kan u die Lephalale noodnommer skakel by 086 010 2859 sodat iemand kan ondersoek instel.
Ook in Mokopane: Van Niekerk het ook laat weet dat hul maatskappy ook die Mokopane Munisipaliteit se waardasierol sal opstel en dat inspeksies binnekort in die dorp ook sal plaasvind. Hou die Noordelike Nuus dop vir inligting.

Boere in die Steenbokpan-omgewing is bekommerd oor die vlaag van inbrake by skure op hul plase die afgelope maand. Volgens John Harding wat al twaalf jaar op Steenbokpan boer, is ses plase in die omgewing onlangs geteiken. Harding sê grassnyers, kragopwekkers, diesel, ‘n boorgatpomp en ander duur toerusting is op twee afsonderlike Donderdagaande gesteel.
“Dit wil voorkom of ses mans ‘n in bakkie plase teiken. Twee bly in die bakkie agter terwyl die ander vier drade en slotte knip om toegang tot plase te kry.”
Harding sê swak kommunikasie weens swak opvangs en die toestand van paaie, maak dit baie moeilik om die verdagtes vas te trek. ‘n Vergadering is onlangs op Steenbokpan gehou om veiligheid op plase daar te bespreek.
“Die grootste frustrasie is dat daar nie op die oomblik ‘n polisiesektorbevelvoerder oor die plase aangestel is nie. As ons met ‘n speurder praat sê hy, hy het 80 ondersoeke waarmee hy besig is. Ons voel magteloos. Daar is baie van ons wat bereid sal wees om by die

reservistemag aan te sluit, maar ons hoor niks daaromtrent nie,” sê Harding.
Gawie van Zyl, voorsitter van Agri Limpopo se landelike veiligheidskomitee glo dat een globale veiligheidsstruktuur vir Lephalale, wat Steenbokpan insluit geskep moet word. “Ons het reeds baie van die grondwerk gedoen en glo daarin om veiligheidsstrukture te skep wat aan wetlike vereistes voldoen. Hierdie boere is baie welkom om ons vergaderings elke laaste Donderdag van die maand 10:00 by Agri-SA se kantore by te woon.
Wat reserviste betref glo van Zyl dat genoegsame druk op die regering geplaas moet word om beleidsdokumente bekend te maak. “Nasionaal is daar afgekondig dat reserviste weer aangestel kan word, maar op plaaslike vlak is daar geen beleidsdokumente wat sê wat die vereistes of magte van reserviste sal wees nie. Agri-Sa sal aanhou om druk op nasionale en plaaslike polisieeringsowerhede te plaas om hierdie beleidsdokumente daar te stel. As reserviste sal ons wettige padblokades kan oprig en in staat wees om arrestasies te maak.”
MOKOPANE – Die Bosveld se landbougemeenskap en plaaslike politici is erg omgekrap oop die geheimsinnige manier waarop drie verdagtes in die plaasaanval waarin mnr. Johan van Rensburg (foto regs) verlede Woensdagoggend vermoor is, Vrydag in die Mokopane landdroshof verskyn het.
Dít nadat die polisie aangekondig het dat vier van die vyf verdagtes vrygelaat is omdat hulle nie met die aanval verbind kon word nie. DA Raadslid Marcelle Maritz het hierdie week aan Beeld gesê sy is woedend hieroor.
Die drie se hofsaak is uitgestel na Donderdag (gister) en verskuif na die Tom Burke landdroshof terwyl mnr. Van Rensburg gister uit die NG Suid kerk begrawe is.
Inwoners van Mokopane en die omliggende boeregemeenskap sou na afloop van die vergadering aan ‘n bewusmakingsoptog deur die dorp deelneem waar hulle wit kruise sou dra om hul protes teen plaasmoorde te kenne te maak.
Intussen berig Lezanne Abrahamse, ‘n vriendin van die Van Rensburg familie, op Noordelike Nuus se Facebook-muur dat Gloudien van Rensburg steeds in die Limpopo Medi Clinic in Polokwane vir haar lewe veg.
“Tannie Gloudien se asemhaling is beter vanoggend. Sy sukkel nog met suurstof en daaroom help [die] masjien haar 70%. Sy kry medikasie vir pyn, swelling en infeksie. Fisio werk aan haar longe, arms en bene. Temperatuur ook goed, bloedruk is goed. Dr. wag nou dat sy moet wakker word. Toets gereeld haar infeksietelling,” het Abrahamse Woensdagoggend op Facebook geskryf.
Sy sê Mev. Van Rensburg se kinders sing vir haar en sy glo vas dit inspireer haar om aan te hou veg.

LEPHALALE - At least 100 homeless and destitute people received blankets last Thursday evening as part of a project initiated by the We Can Foundation.
This non-profit organisation was started more than a year ago by a group of friends who decided to make a difference in their community. The group led by Ridge Mabotja first did their research by collecting names of people living in the bushes in and around Onverwacht. The “new” Manketti Lodge unveiledLEPHALALE - “A beer just tastes better here,” Grootegeluk Medupi Expansion Project GM, Joe Meyer told colleagues at the unveiling of the new addition to the Manketti Lodge situated next to Exxaro’s Grootegeluk Mine last Wednesday.
According to Meyer high traffic volumes and a scarcity of accommodation in Lephalale makes Manketti Logde a must-have for Exxaro to schedule meetings and accommodate visitors to the mine.
Construction on the second phase of the Lodge, which included eight new rooms and a conference facility, started in October last year and was unveiled last Wednesday. The first phase of the Lodge which was completed in March 2010 consisted of 8 rooms, designed specifically to blend well with its natural surroundings
Meyer congratulated project manager, Dirk Laubscher and Copper Eagle Builders for delivering a product of such high quality. Architect, WP Bosch was also at the event to see the culmination of the construction of his design.
Computers for Chumana PrimaryMOKOPANE- The faces of learners at Chumana Primary school lit up when they were presented with new computers for their school. The gift was part of Nedbank’s Personal Loan branch’s drive to give back to the community. Nedbank representatives were thanked with a traditional dance from the learners. MOKOPANE - Kansa hou op die 12/13 Oktober 2012 weer sy jaarlikse Relay for Life – bekend as die Loop van Hoop - by Hoërskool Piet Potgieter. Getrou aan tradisie sal die hele Mokopane gemeenskap betrokke wees en die fondse sal aangewend word vir voorkoming van kanker en pasiëntesorg in die dorp.
Hierdie is ‘n gulde geleentheid vir ons plaaslike besighede en instansies om aan die gemeenskap te wys dat hulle die saak van KANSA en kanker pasiënte ondersteun.
Relay For Life is ‘n Nasionale KANSA fondsinsamelingsprojek, en vind plaas tydens ‘n oornagbyeenkoms wat uit spanne van 10 tot 15 persone bestaan. Spanfooie beloop R100.00 per persoon (R1000 – R1500 per span). Dit herdenk oorlewendes en inspireer die publiek om betrokke te raak by KANSA se pogings tot voorspraak en bewusmaking.
Die spanlede maak beurte om rondom die baan te stap of hardloop sodat ten minste een lid elke oomblik gedurende die byeenkoms op die baan is. Alles vind plaas om geld in te samel om kanker te beveg.
LEPHALALE/MOKOPANE - Hy het al van Kaapstad tot Beitbrug gestap en die lang pad te voet van Johannesburg na Durban en toe weer van Bloemfontein na Durban in een jaar aangedurf.
Hierdie jaar gaan avonturuur Anton Fouché ‘n 50kg motorband van Polokwane tot Lephalale sleep. Anton het landswyd bekendheid verwerf vir sy Walk in Faith en 2-Million Steps-staptogte wat hy as bewusmakingsveldtogte vir liefdadigheidsprojekte onderneem het.
Met vanjaar se staptog gaan hy fondse vir Bosveldsending in Vaalwater insamel. Dié bediening staan onder leiding van David en Lizette Naude en hulle versorg tans 64 kinders sonder enige staatshulp. Die staptog van 230km begin 23 Julie in Polokwane vanwaar hy deur Mokopane en Marken sal stap om teen 17 Augustus in Lephalale te wees.
Anton sê dat hy met die vorige staptogte egter min in sy tent geslaap het. “Mense stop jou langs die pad om te hoor waarom jy stap dan nooi hulle jou om by hulle te oornag. My ervaring was nog met elke

Twee hoogtepunte van elke aflos is die oorlewendes se aktiwiteite en die Luminaria seremonie (Kerse van Hoop seremonie). Elk van dié seremonies eer diegene wat deur kanker geraak is.
Oorlewendes word deur middel van aktiwiteite vereer, wat die openingsrondte vir oorlewendes om die baan insluit, sowel as ‘n aandoenlike Luminaria seremonie, waartydens al die kerse rondom die baan aangesteek word. Tydens die Relay word ook spesiale eer betoon aan die versorgers van kanker pasiënte.
Anton stap vir Bosveldsendingstaptog dat die Here voorsien in elke behoefte.”
Anton se ankerborge vir die geleentheid is LA sport, Pick ‘n Pay en Kokoriba Slaghuis. Na die staptog sal besighede in Lephalale die geleentheid kry om ‘n tafel vir 10 by ‘n formele ete by die Mogolklub te borg, so mik hy om R80 000 vir Bosveldsending in te samel. KommunikasieAs kinders het baie van ons op skool geleer dat ons veilig is, want die polisie maak seker geen skelms loop vry op straat rond nie. Wit kinders is op skool geleer dat hulle enige tyd van die dag of nag ‘n polisieman (polisievroue was maar skaars in daardie dae) kan nader en vir hulp vra met enigiets. Ek dink nie swart kinders het dieselfde vrymoedigheid gehad as dit by die polisiemag van die 80’s kom nie, maar tog praat selfs swart mense vandag van hoeveel beter misdaad onder die vorige regime in toom gehou is.In ons dagblaaie lees ons daagliks van gruwelike geweldsmisdade teen mede-landsburgers. Hier op die platteland is dinge nie juis beter nie, maar dit verg ‘n boosheid soos wat die Van Rensburgs van Baltimore getref het om ons te laat besef net hoe weerloos ons in die nuwe Suid-Afrika is.Die polisie swyg soos die graf oor misdade in ons dorpe, net soos wat daar verlede week geswyg is oor die hofverskyning van die drie verdagtes in Mnr. Johan van Rensburg se moordsaak. Ek het baie begrip vir die polfbare situasie wat ons manne en vroue in blou in hierdie geval probeer ontlont het deur die hofverskyning stil te hou. Maar om vir mense te jok oor die vrylating van verdagtes die dag voor hulle in die hof verskyn, dra eenvoudig by tot die toenemende vertrouensbreek tussen Jan Publiek en die polisie.

Dis soms nie maklik om eerlik met jouself te wees nie, maar eerlikheid met jouself kan uiteindelik die deur na ’n baie beter lewe oopmaak. So byvoorbeeld sal baie gelowiges wat eerlik met hulleself is, erken dat hulle nie meer opgewonde oor God is nie. Dis asof hulle geestelike fut uit is, hulle geestelike energie opgeraak het. Hulle is gewoon nie meer opgewonde daaroor om Bybel te lees, te bid, kerk toe te gaan en te lewe soos ’n gelowige nie.
In Psalm 103 word die rede hiervoor gegee. Die Psalm sê dat ’n mens oor God net opgewonde kan raak as jy oor sy liefde opgewonde is. En, om God se liefde te verstaan moet ons besef wat Hy met ons sonde doen. Anders as wat gelowiges vandag glo, loop die pad na ware vreugde deur ’n diepe bewustheid van sonde, asook die kennis van wat God met ons sonde gedoen het. Terwyl ons dit geensins verdien nie, bly God nie ons sonde voor ons koppe gooi nie, en bly Hy nie vir ewig vir ons kwaad nie (9). Hy handel nie met ons volgens ons sondes nie en Hy vergeld ons nie ons ongeregtighede nie (10). Hy verwyder ons oortredinge van ons af, so ver as wat die ooste van die weste verwyder is (12). Dis ’n onberekenbare afstand! In kort: God verwyder ons sonde en dink nie weer daaraan nie, as gevolg van sy onbeskryflike liefde. Sy liefde vir ons is so groot soos die afstand tussen die hemel en die aarde (11). Wie dit wil probeer bereken, moet gaan kyk na wat dit God gekos het om ons sonde weg te neem. Dit het Hom sy enigste en geliefde Seun gekos.
Maar die werklikheid is dat ons ook
kan sukkel om oor hierdie liefde van God opgewonde te raak. Dit kan wees omdat ons nog nie die werklikheid van sondevergifnis ervaar het nie, of omdat ons lewensomstandighede van so ’n aard is dat God se liefde agter ’n donker wolk verdwyn, of omdat ons bloot te gewoond geraak het aan die idee van ’n liefdevolle God sodat ons nie meer daardeur aangespreek word nie.
Om werklik weer God se liefde te kan ervaar, moet ons Hom dien (11, 13, 17). Eintlik staan daar in hierdie verse dat ons die Here moet vrees. Dit beteken dat ons in ons aanbidding van die Here ’n houding van eerbied en ontsag moet inneem. Só ’n houding sal ons gedurigdeur herinner aan Wie God is, naamlik die grote, Almagtige, onverganklike God wat moeite doen met my, die klein, onmagtige en verganklike mensie. Maar, as ons in ons aanbidding vir God nie
meer eerbied en ontsag het nie, sal ons beeld van God ook nie meer een wees van die ewige en onbegryplike God wat neergebuig het na ons as nietige en onwaardige mense nie. Dawid was so oorstelp van vreugde toe hy hieroor gedink het, dat hy aan die begin en die einde van hierdie Psalm sê dat Hy die Here met sy hele wese wil loof. Die woordjie loof kom van ’n Hebreeuse woordjie wat beteken om op jou knieë voor God te staan. Dis asof die besef wie God is en wie hy is, vir Dawid op sy knieë voor God gebring het. As hierdie besef ook tot jou deurdring, sal die vreugdevure oor God in jou hart weer hoog brand.

The Lephalale Local Municipality (LLM) has identified a need for the development of a new waste man-agement facility (landfill) for Lepha-lale in Limpopo province. This is due to the current Lephalale landfill site, which is not located on Municipal property, and has to be closed on request from the current land own-er. The facility will serve the waste management needs of the LLM, i.e. the town Lephalale and surrounding areas.
With the completion of the site selec-tion study a site was identified for the new Lephalale Landfill site on Por-tion 3 of the Farm Zongezein 467 LQ (23°38’31.76”S and 27°39’8.04”E) west of the town of Lephalale.

LEPHALALE/MOKOPANE - Die Change-a-Life-fietstoer wat jaarliks geld vir misdaadbekamping en misdaadslagoffers insamel sal einde September ‘n draai in Lephalale en Mokopane kom maak. Die projek is in 2008 deur Computershare geloots na die tragiese moord op die maatskappy se senior bestuurder, Mike Thomson in September 2007. Volgens die toer-organiseerder, Ursula du Plooy, het die projek sedert sy ontstaan reeds R16 miljoen vir dié doel ingesamel.
Vanjaar se toer sal die vyfde van sy soort wees en word die Groot-Vyf-fietstoer genoem. Vyf en sewentig deelnemers sal van 20 tot 25 September deur die mooiste dele van die Waterberge toer. Die groep sluit uitvoerende direkteure van maatskappye soos Sun International, UTI, Johannesburg Effektebeurs, Tracker, USN, Old Mutual Invest, NFB en Hollard in. Veelsydige sportman Martin Dreyer en TV- en radio aanbieders Liezel van der Westhuizen en Gerald de Kock sal ook die toer meemaak.
Die roete deur die Waterberge begin met ‘n 125km rit vanaf die Sun International
Fietstoer kom Waterberge toeCarousel Hotel na die Legends Golf and Safari Resort in die Entabeni Safaripark naby Mokopane. Vandaar sal hulle op die tweede dag 145km tot in Lephalale ry waar die deelnemers in die Palmpark Hotel sal oornag. Op dag drie volg hulle ‘n 220km roete na Vaalwater en weer terug na die Legends Hotel.
Hierdie is die skof wat die direkteure se stamina sal toets. Op die laaste dag sal deelnemers 85km ry en ‘n 9km pas uitklim om die roete van 570km te voltooi.
Du Plooy het hierdie week aan Noordelike Nuus gesê die groep is baie opgewonde om die Waterberge te verken en almal is reeds besig met ‘n oefenprogram. “Die toer is “by invitation only” en daar is tans ‘n waglys van 45 direkteure wat graag wil saam toer. Ons vat nooit meer as 75 nie, want ons wil seker maak dit bly eksklusief sodat ons mooi na hulle kan kyk.”
Sy verduidelik ook dat die koste van die toer deur borge gedek word. “Elke direkteur of deelnemer betaal R27 000 om deel te neem – Computershare “match” elke sent - en hierdie geld gaan direk na die Trust.”
