Northern Saskatchewan is a dynamic region with great potential for mineral

exploration. The province is consistently ranked as a top region in the world for

mineral investment from the Fraser Institute annual survey of mining

companies. Our uranium deposits have long been known as among the richest

in the world, and new discoveries are being made in gold, base metals, and oth-

er commodities. The report includes information on many of these

exploration projects.

In this publication we feature public information gleaned from company web

sites and news releases into one convenient package. Our eye on the industry is

Gary Dunn, long known in the Northern Saskatchewan exploration and mining

industry.

Northern Saskatchewan Mineral Exploration

Highlights September 2018

Saskatchewan Government Releases Survey Data and TMEI Details

The Government of Saskatchewan has initiated a strategy to support and increase mineral exploration. The

targeted commodities are: base metals, precious metals, and diamonds. The strategy has two components,

airborne electromagnetic, magnetic, and gravity surveys and the Targeted Mineral Exploration Incentive (TMEI).

The surveys flew four blocks: one in the Saskoba Lake Area near the Manitoba border, one SW of Amisk Lake, one

east of Deschambault Lake and another west of Cumberland House. A map of the survey areas can be found on

page three.

The TMEI offers a rebate of 25 per cent of eligible direct drilling costs, up to an annual maximum of $50,000 per

company on a pro-rated basis.

These initiatives join the Saskatchewan Mineral Exploration Tax Credit in supporting the province’s exploration

sector. The Tax Credit offers a non-refundable 10% tax credit to Saskatchewan taxpayers who invest in eligible

flow-through shares (FTS) issued by mining or exploration companies.

Commodities at a Glance

BASE METALS

There has been increased interest in base metal exploration in the province in September with the release of the

airborne electromagnetic, magnetic and gravity gradient surveys by the Saskatchewan Government

Purepoint Uranium have staked more ground subsequent to the release.

There has been additional claim staking by Searchlight Resources & Eagle Plains Resources in the Creighton Camp

on the Schotts Lake VMS deposit.

In the Brabant area Murchison Minerals released a mineral resource update as well as exploration results on their

Brabant-Mckenzie Project. Additional claims were staked.

Foran Mining released the initial results from 7 holes of their ongoing summer resource definition drilling on the

McIlvenna Bay Project.

RARE EARTHS

Appia Energy Corp released assays of total rare earth oxide ( TREO ) from the Charles Zone on their Alces Lake

Project. Additional channel samples have been delivered to SRC with results pending. Additional claims have been

staked and diamond drilling is currently underway.

DIAMONDS

Star Diamond Corp reports that Rio Tinto Exploration Canada has initiated site preparation for the planned 10 hole

bulk sampling program on the Star Kimberlite.

URANIUM

In the Patterson Lake Area Fission Uranium Corp released assay results from the 9 hole summer program. These

results will be used in the new resource estimate as Fission proceeds to it’s pre-feasibility study ( PFS ) expected

out in Q4, 2018.

Elsewhere in the Athabasca Basin Denison Mines announced results of the preliminary pre-feasibility study ( PFS )

on the Wheeler River Property It is interesting to note that conventional underground longhole mining is proposed

for the Gryphon Deposit whereas in-situ recovery ( ISR ) is proposed for the Phoenix Deposit. Ore would be milled

at Denison’s 22.5% owned McLean Lake Mill.
