IMPORTANCE OF HOME-SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP
The STELLAR Curriculum
Strategies for English Language Learning and Reading
• It is an English Language curriculum for all primary schools in Singapore.
• It hopes to develop children who love reading and have a strong foundation in the English Language.
What is a STELLAR lesson like?
1. Shared Reading
Experiences
2. Shared Writing
Experiences
3. Language Use
Activities in
Learning Centres
Students read storybook with their
teacher. Then they engage in oral
discussions with their teacher and peers.
The teacher prepares mini lessons based
on specific needs of the students to
prepare them for the reading & writing
activities; e.g. grammar, vocabulary, word
recognition, decoding skills, spelling
The teacher models writing using
the student’s language. They will
then engage in writing together.
Finally, they will engage in writing
independently.
