On the first day of freshman orientation every freshman was assigned to a senior contact. These contacts showed them where each of their classes were and helped them learn to navigate the halls of Northwest. Chase Rancourt ’19 and Jimmy Sabia ’19 receive their name tags on the first day of orientation from senior contacts Taryn Nguyen ’16 and Erin Tully ’16. By the end of the day, they had made new friends and knew what to expect for the upcoming year. The new freshmen learn all about NWC from the executive board of the Freshman Contact Program. Megan Shea ’19 said, “I think that freshman orientation really prepared me for my first year of high school. The seniors were so nice and infor- mative. They really made sure that everyone was making new friends.” This year almost 100 seniors participated in NWC’s Freshman Contact Program. The program’s head, Mrs. Foran spoke of its success saying, “Our freshman contact seniors, and especially the 27 members of the Executive Board, did a tremendous job in help- ing to welcome the incoming freshmen. All their efforts paid off in a successful couple of days!” (From left to right) Hope Moustakakis ’19, Will Moustakakis ’16, Alex Wendorff ’16, Andrew Wendorff ’19, Nick Kamansky ’16, Alexander Kamansky ’19, Patrick Lazor ’16, Sarah Lazor ’19, Tyler Sisk ’16, Megan Sisk ’19, Henry McKenna ’16, Daniel McKenna ’19. This year we have 10 pairs of siblings from the freshman and senior classes! Mr. Matt Martorelli ’03 and Caroline Chapell ’19 take a silly selfie during orientation. On their second day of orientation, the freshmen had the chance to work with “Empower,” an organization that came to NWC to teach them different leadership qualities. They bonded over different outside activities which were designed to help them get to know each other.
