Project components include:

• Building a new Clutch Switch Substation

• Constructing just over 2 miles of

69-kilovolt transmission line

• Constructing a new Schafrath Switch

The need for improvements to the transmission

system is essential to ensure an adequate

supply of electricity is available for the area’s

industrial, commercial, and residential custom-

ers. Improvements reconfigure the design of the

electric system by creating a loop. This loop

adds redundancy, reducing power outages in

the area and speeding recovery of service when

outages occur.

The project involves constructing a new

transmission line along W. Smithville Western

Road. The line extends from the Schafrath

Switch, located near County Road 112, to the

Madisonburg Substation, located west of

Canaan Center Road. A majority of the line will

be co-located with existing distribution lines

and utilizes easements previously acquired in

2009 and 2010.
