Trip

to Norway

Before

I'm very excited to see another country

other than my mother country with

another culture too and above all to see

our pen-friends again because last year

was amazing with Norwegian people.

Furthermore I'm excited and stressed to

take the plane for the first time because I

have never taken it. Before this trip, when I travelled I took the train or we drove ,

so I'm quite afraid of this but to my mind,

it will be okay.

I look forward to seeing my host

family and the beautiful scenery. On

pictures , Norway seems to be a very

beautiful country. I hope there will be

snow, it's funny and we haven’t had

snow for a long time in Bretagne.

I'm quite stressed too because

Joachim was not my pen-friend and

we didn't speak together as a result I

don't know him a lot, and obviously ,

I don’t know his family either.

I hope I will get more vocabulary in

English.

I look forward to going there !

Before

In February, our Norwegian partners came, it was a new experience for a lot of peo-

ple and me for example. When they came, we had a good time and it was really awe-

some to meet new people who live in a foreign country, this week was perfect and

when they left France, we were really sad and we wanted just one thing : to see

them again in Norway.

After the summer holiday, when I heard that we’d go in Norway in November, I was

so happy and excited, I was looking forward to going there.

Firstly, in my opinion, this trip is for us a good way to improve our English, in a sec-

ond time it's a good experience in order to learn about another country, another

school system and meet people, that's why I wanted to go to Norway.

Unfortunately, sometimes we are anxious about trips or things like that, in my case

my first apprehension is to come back to France after our trip, I hope this week will

not spend too fast because I think it will be an extraordinary week... my second apre-

hension is the during of the travel, I hope we'll not be busy of this ?. But it's for a

good reason, have a superb trip ! To finish, my last apprehension is the food...what

do I think about eating cheese and delicatessen at breakfast ? Huhhh...of course I've

to try but, it's not what I like to do...plus, I'm scared about other food we will have to eat but we don't have the choice, I can't judge before trying !

To continue, I have some wishes like improve my English, learn about a new school

system, a new family, a new tradition, a new culture... Furthermore, I would like to

see snow in Norway, I'm sure it's beautiful but I don't think it will be snowing at this

time of the year, too bad ! Plus I'm looking forward to seeing the view of the moun-

tains. On top of that I wish to have a good family, but I'm not worried about that

because my partner is very nice. Finally, this trip will be the first time that I have left

France so I hope the travel will be good. To conclude, I'm looking forward to going

to Norway and seeing them again !

After

So, there we were, after a few waiting months, we saw them, we were looking forward to

seeing them again ! The trip was ok, unfortunately it was boring in the bus because it was very long to wait, but after 15 hours, we were with the Norwegians. When we saw them, we hugged our partners, we were so glad to see them again ! My correspondent is Sara and she has got a

twin called Amalie (Audrey's correspondent) and when I said "hello" to their mother it was ... weird because Norwegian people have a different way to say "hello", and when I remember this I think it was funny ! When I saw the house I was shocked, it was wonderful and it seemed huge inside !

We visited the house and we met their little brother, but I can't remember his name because in Norway, a lot of people have two names, furthermore their pronunciation is difficult to under-stand !

Firstly, before this trip, I had some apprehensions, I didn't want time to be too fast, but unfortu-nately it was. It was an extraordinary trip ... we did a lot of things, we went to the top of a mountain and the view was so beautiful, we visited some factories, it was interesting ! I was

worried about the during of the travel because it was sooooooooo long! Finally, I was scared about the food, but it was so good, better than in France I think, I tested a lot of new food, I ate ham at breakfast and it was good !

In a second part, I had some wishes, my first wish was to improve my English and I think I did because we had to speak English all the time, however it was sometimes difficult. My second wish was to learn about a new school system, a new family, new traditions ... and of course I

did, we went to school and we saw that they begin at the same time as in France, but they finish at around 12.00 or 2 pm, it depends on students, some are in science class and some in econ-omy class that's why there are different timings, I also saw the "canteen" where people can eat but they have to pay every for everything (and it costs an arm and a leg!). In Norway, they eat

in the morning (like us), at 11.20, next, at 5 pm and sometimes at 11 pm if they are hungry, it's very different from France, but it was nice to learn a about different life. I wanted to met a new family and to learn about them, Audrey and I met Sara and Amalie's grandmother, their father,

their step-mother, step-father, sister, other brothers ... they are so nice and it was fun to meet them! Plus, I learnt a little bit more about their traditions, we spoke about Christmas, and I learnt that they have to sing and dance around a tree, so cool! I hoped to have snow, but there

wasn’t, maybe a little at the top of the mountain but I think it was just ice. To conclude, it was a perfect week, we did a lot of things, learnt more about our families and the country, every evening we hung out with other Norwegians and French. In my opinion

friends are like a family because they are together all the time. It was a very good experience ! My family was perfect, before I left, they gave me some gift for my family, it was so nice, I felt like in my own house, thanks to them. I can't tell you everything about my feelings because it's too much I hope to see them again one day! Thank you, Miss Carnec for this trip and what you

did for us, and thank you Mister Gourhant to join us.

The plane is about to leave !

10 months ago , not one but three Norwegian students came to my house During

the first weekend the feeling between us was really good. And I directly knew the

week will be fantastic. I was not wrong! It has stayed in my memory as one of my

best weeks. Then we stayed in touch thanks social networks.

Now while I am writing this article I'm extremely excited because we will start a

new week in their company soon! I am desperately eager to leave even though I'm

a little stressed, why? I do not know. Maybe I am scared of not finding the complic-

ity that we had during the week in France. But I hope and I know that everything

going to be alright.

NORWAY I ARRIVE !

Page 7

A Norwegian song in my headphones, I'm ready to start an article about an exchange

which was for me , and I think for all of their participants, a wonderful experience

which allowed us to meet magical people and also to become more tolerant, respectful

of others, open-minded, mature and especially improve our English. And we know we

were very lucky to do this travel.

I wish to begin by the beginning, it was on February 2014 when we met the Norwegian

students in France, this week was fantastic and already the contacts between teens of

the both countries were very good. It was one of the reasons why we were so thrilled

and excited to visit Norway. And on the November 2 we were on plane to Trond-

heim. Our dream became reality,

I think it is time for me to go back on an amazing school trip and explain my feelings,

my impressions about the blond-haired and blue-eyed people’s country.

Maybe I can start by the weather because contrary to what one might think, it wasn't

so hard to adapt to the temperature which was between 5 and 6 minus. I was cold but

there was not much wind and the weather was very dry, that's why it was not difficult.

I didn’t expect Norwegian meals and meal times to be so different from ours. Like in a

lot of countries they eat a hearty breakfast with eggs, bacon, cheese on their jam toast,

that's quite strange!!! (brown cheese which is a speciality) and things like salad too.

After, for lunch at 11:00 they eat the same food as for breakfast. They have to take it

to school with them or buy some sandwiches at school. Then, they finish school at

2:00 pm so they eat dinner at 4:30 pm while in France we are still at school. And

sometimes at 10:00 pm they eat again. I was not surprised to eat dinner early because

the sun sets at 4:00 pm so it was night, and I think it's rather good because we had lot

of time to do activities after dinner. Like I said before they end school at 2:00 pm and is

not the only difference, all of them have a computer with the Internet instead of copy-

books and pencils, that's progress and in my view it's really good. But I was surprised

by the way they use their laptop during the lessons. I saw boys watching a football

match and girls on Facebook while the teacher was teaching !! And I think that's not

very good. Something else I noticed in their school is the respect between students

and the respect for cleanliness. These are things we don't have in our school.

What are my best memories? It's hard for me to make a choice because all the

moments were different from each other and all of them were nice. But there is

something which surprised me: the landscape, specifically the view from the top of

the mountain, it's true that I wasn't a fan of hiking but this trip made me change

my mind on this topic! I was speechless when I saw the view, it was wonderful!

Now when I look at the pictures I don't believe that I saw all this. After the walk-

ing we had a funny and congenial time around a fire in the forest and next to a

frozen lake, we grilled and ate hot dogs all together, it was a very good time.

I also appreciated the lesson I gave to the Norwegians students who learn French

it was really fun to listen to them speak French. The visit we did in the windows

company, in the church and in the fish farm were also very interesting. But what I

preferred was all of the parties we did at night, but especially the evening when

some of us and our partners went to the supermarket to buy food to cook tacos,

and when we were in the kitchen to prepare the dinner, then when we was to-

gether around the table, the atmosphere was so cool. I noticed that we spoke

more together when we were in a smaller group, that's why this evening was par-

ticularly pleasant.

The best for the end: the Norwegian students, or our Norwegian friends because

now I think they are more than simple student partners. They are dynamic and

helpful people, they took care of us and taught us about their lifestyle and tradition

all long our trip, they also drove us everywhere, even in Trondheim it was really

kind of them to organize this day. Thank you to them. It was so fantastic to be

with them, there was all the time something to say. I think if I have to choose the

best moment in this trip, I will choose every moment I spoke with some Norwe-

gians, at parties, at school, around the table with my family and... With the best

partner ever Amalie.

Page 9

Before

What do I expect for the week in Norway? I hope it will snow ! However, I really

don’t know what to think about my partner and his family. When he came last

year he didn’t really speak so much, as a result I don’t know a lot of things about him and his family. But I’m sure everything will be fine!

There is just one problem, and in fact it’s a big problem : my feet problem. I can’t

run, walk or even stand on my feet without feeling it very painful…

For that reason my days in Norway will perhaps not be as good as it should be in

without it. I know I will not do all the activities planned, and not really enjoy what

is possible for me to do. I think this week will be a difficult period, even if the

teachers will do everything to help me…

After

I am really amazed by the impressive Norwegian landscapes! The mountains, the

sea, the towns, the people, and the language: everything is fantastic in this country!

I’ve even seen northern lights, it was so incredible…

The school system is also very different and, in my opinion, better than the French

one. However, the language is a little difficult to understand, but I found it was a

very interesting one, and eventually easier than I thought to learn. People are dif-

ferent too. I have the impression

they are more open-minded and

generous in Norway than French

people.

Finally I really liked this trip! I am

so happy about it, and I will miss

this country and the people a

lot…

“ Tussen takk” for the good mo-

ments we’ve spent here ! ;)

Norway seen by Clémence

before being in Norway

I hope to see beautiful landscapes,

wild and vast. It's, normal, it’s one

of the first things that we expect

to see in Norway.

I'm really in a hurry to meet in-

habitants. If they are different

from us, how they live… That will

be a fantastic and exciting travel !

Furthermore, the only foreign

country where I have been is Ger-

many, Norway is not the same

thing ! That's the end of the world

for me, because this country is

near the North Pole.

However, I have a big problem.

Always the same when I’m abroad.

I'm French, not Norwegian or

German , namely, I'm not an ex-

pert at English…

It's a joke ! I come from England

of course ! You can see it, can’t

you ?

My point of view about my

trip to Norway.

I have been to - Norway and my

opinion has changed.

It's a country which is a lot more

evolved than France. The school

system is radically different and

really better, because lessons last

just forty five minutes !

Pupils do want what they want.

They have computers for their

work… or their games. Lessons

are good only if pupils and respect

the professor.

At the school canteen, there is

only good food, like fruit, vegeta-

bles, sandwiches… It's so deli-

cious !

People are very open-minded and

always smiling. There are no con-

ventions or rules, everybody does

what he/she wants to do, and eve-

rybody gets on well with every-

body.

The landscapes are wild and so

beautiful, the mountain is close to

the sea, it's a wild nature.

Page 11

Before I have been waiting for this trip for a long time, I think just one minute

after they left Chateaulin. So I'm really excited to meet them again because

they have a different mentality they are most open minded and they give to

you so much love in a short time. So we have a great friendship. I'm really

excited to see them again, to have wonderful moment with them. But I'm

little bit anxious and scared about how this week will happen, If less hap-

pens less than in France because it was such an amazing week.

I'm really excited to discover this country, when I told people I was going

to Norway they answered " Oh Wow you are so lucky It's an amazing

country with wonderful landscapes!!" I'm looking forward to discovering

Norway , its landscapes its culture, its people, its way of life , its food so all

about Norway ! And I hope to improve my English and come back better

at English.

Now we have to have fun and make this week as wonderful as in France.

My impressions about the trip to Norway I was really excited about this trip. I did lot of films in my head before go-

ing there. But reality was beyond my expectations.

The landscape was so wonderful, the house made of wood was so nice.

For example in France I really hate trekking but in Norway I liked it so

much because there were such amazing views. When my partner told me

that we were going to do two trekking in the week I thought oh …. No

… so boring ! but in fact it was so "wouaw" more than wonderful I have

no word to say how it was.

The life in Norway is different from in France because the night comes

around 4:00 pm so we can't do the same things as in France. In Norway

we eat dinner at 4:00 pm, I prefer that to eating around 8:00 pm in

France. And they ate sweets and savory together for example they eat ham

on their waffles.

School is also different. It's less strict than in France, they use computers

to work and some students don’t really work but they are play games or

chat on facebook, I thinks it's little bit less strict and in France it's too strict

so between both would be better.

Page 12

Maëlle

.../...

And to finish, I’ll tell you

about Norwegian people.

There were so nice with

us they did all the things to

make this week wonderful

and it was ! Thank you so

much ! We did nice activi-

ties like :

-Trekking in the mountain

-Fire in the woods-sport

competitions-visiting a win-

dow factory an hydroelec-

tric power plant, a fish

farm and we went shop-

ping in Trondheim.

And everyday after school we always did something together, we ate

together, we were playing games or just talking and staying together

during many hours it was so nice!

I met amazing people during an amazing week in a beautiful country. I

met such nice and caring people. I consider them as real friends. I

wish to see them again ! I can't forget them and this week. I hope

they can come this summer!

I will never forget a single moment or a single person of this trip !

See you !

My sentiments before departure I’m really excited to go to Norway because this journey is the second part of

an exchange. Also because, it will be fun to see again the students we wel-

comed and to live like they do. This trip will be an experience for us because

we are going to speak and hear English expressions and words all the time

during this week.

I’m happy and excited, but I’m also a bit afraid because for us it’s an unknown

and different “world”. It’s very different from France for the weather, the

currency or the prices for example. I’m also afraid of not being understood

by the people when I speak.

But I know this journey will be a good and educative one.

Impressions when I’m back

First of all, the trip was amazing! It was a fabulous week with lots of emo-

tions. People were very friendly and welcoming. The activities were interest-

ing and cheerful, nobody was sad , everybody was happy. The landscapes

were so beautiful and impressive! The school wasn’t the same as in France,

because, for example, they have all the afternoon to go to see their friends. I

think I prefer their school than ours. Their school is also very technologic and

that’s good while in France we’re always using paper. To finish with the

school, it’s a small one, so everybody knows everybody. Now about the

town, it’s small so everybody can go to see friends easier than us, because

they got all their owns cars. And for us, we are too young to drive so we

have to ask somebody to drive us, and after to pick us up so it’s so boring for

our parents. In the evening, there were always parties, it was very congenial

and nice. They weren’t any quarrels between French and Norwegian stu-

dents, so it was so sad and difficult to say goodbye. I hope we will see them

again.

The trip was short, but we have enjoyed it a lot.

Page 14

My expectations for the Norway’s travel

I’m very happy to go

to Norway with the Euro class, I have been

waiting for this travel

a lot for some months

that’s why I’m very

impatient!! I hope to

have good time with

all the Norvegian stu-

dents, to enjoy this

travel, do a lot of ac-

tivities, discover a lot of new things and a new country too. I’m

very excited to see my partner Hanna, I have missed her a lot.

I’m a little disappointed because in the week I won’t be in her

home but in Mari’s home. Hanna and her twin sister have their

flat and I can’t spend the week with them because of my age. I

don’t know so much Mari so I wish we will get along well. I’m

thrilled to go with my friends from the Euro class in this country,

maybe we will see some snow. I’m joyful to make some videos

about our trip. I’m looking forward to being in Norway, seeing

our correspondent’s school. I have got a lot of expectations for

our trip.

Page 15

My trip to Norway

Norway isn't a country where you often go with school but

that's what makes it interesting. From a school trip people can

expect a lot of things which depend on the person. Let me tell

you what my feelings and my hopes about this trip are. I think

this trip will be really good and very interesting because like I

said it's not a country where students often go. This school

trip will allow me to discover a new place with beautiful land-

scapes, a new culture, a new general system, especially a new

school system and other food. The best thing in this trip is we

all have a correspondent, so different host families. Thanks to it

I will be able to compare my experience living with Norwegian

people with that of other French students’. With this trip I

hope to learn a lot of things about this country and be able to talk about it after. I want to have fun and get a lot of memo-

ries. I hope after it I'll keep in touch with my correspondent. I

also hope this trip will be unforgettable.

Page 16

Noémie

After the trip to Norway

Now my trip to Norway is done. I really enjoyed it and I

want to do it again because it's a wonderful country. Nor-

wegian people are so kind and so open-minded, they are

really interested in other countries and other cultures

like the French culture In my host family , it made me feel

comfortable to talk to them about everything all the time.

It was also interesting to discover the differences be-

tween France and Norway like the different sort of food

and lifestyles. The Norwegians eat 4 times a day like us

but at different hours. They eat breakfast at the same

time as us, lunch at 11:20 (at school), dinner at 4-5 pm

and they eat a light meal which can be salty or sweet be-

fore going to bed at 9 or 10 pm. During this trip I tasted

some food I had never seen before like the « brown cheese » you can eat it with almost everything, like bread,

pancakes, jam...etc. I learnt how their school system

works and I can definitely say that it's much simpler than

ours. I have also visited some companies and seen won-

derful landscapes during this week. The best thing in this

story is the friendship I have with my partner so I really

want to go back to this country in the future.

Page 17

Nicolas

Trip in Norway

I’m not scared by this trip or

by the flight because I have

travelled a lot but I .‘m afraid

to be disappointed

I’m also scared of polar

bears and other animals but I

don’t think there will be any

in the small town where we

are going..I’m not excited

because travel is a bit my

hobby. I hope Norway is as

beautiful as what I have seen

on. I’m curious about the

temperature during our trip if it will be below 0 or not.

I’m so excited to discover

another place !

After the trip to Norway

This travel was one of the

best experiences I have ever

lived! It was amazing to go

to Norway with the euro

class. At the beginning, it

was a little bit hard to speak

English all the time with all

the Norwegians. It was hard

to eat 0 dinner at 4PM too.

But we spent a lot of unfor-

gettable moments in Nor-

way. I just have one idea in

mind: going to Norway

with my family and my

friends a second time.

Page 18

Hugo

My expectations before

the trip :

I hope to practice and improve in

English . I would like to talk a lot

with the Norwegian partners and

their families .

I hope to find out about life in

Norway , their traditions , their

landscapes , their school , their

school system and maybe an-

other way of life .

I would like to visit factories , to

have a trip to a fjord and maybe

ski in the mountains . I hope to

try typical foods .

I would like to see northern

lights !

I hope don't have too many

problems to understand but I

don't have any apprehensions...

I would find the same cool at-

mosphere we had in France .

I hope they will be happy to

show us their area.

I think it will be a really nice ex-

perience for us and them .

Then , I hope everyone to enjoy

his/her trip in Norway and have a

lot of fun !

My feelings after the

trip :

It was an amazing and really

interesting week !

I think I did a lot of progress in

English and mainly my accent

because I have tried to talk a

maximum with my partner's

family and all the Norwegian

partners .

I notice some differences be-

tween France and Norway :

Days at this time are really

short in Norway .

They have maybe 6 meals a

day .

They leave the lights switched

on all the time.

They don’t spend so much time

at school contrary to us. .../...

Page 19

Hugo Clara

They have laptops at school

while we have notebooks and

pens

Everything is really expensive.

Then , they are less stressed

than us and they are always

smiling , but maybe it's because

we were relaxed with them .

It was not so cold . The food

was not so bad expect brown

cheese

I enjoyed all of the activities we

did : it was really interesting to

visit factories and see the moun-

tains .

I think they were really glad to

host us and show us they life .

I have met cheerful persons .

I hope it was a great experience

for everyone who participated

to this exchange .

Maybe I will never go again to

Norway ,but I hope to go back

afterwards !

To conclude I can say that it's

really easy to take the plane

from Norway to France without

an id card .

Thank you for this trip !

I'm very excited about this

trip that will bring me a new

look on this little-known

country. I am looking forward

to seeing my correspondent

again (Thea) that I'm missing

so much and getting ac-

quainted with my new corre-

spondent! I'm afraid of being

cold and eating weird things! I

love salmon and snow so I

want to know this country! I

hope The Norwegian and

French people will be closer

than in France! I am very

stressed and I am looking for-

ward to starting this journey

full of surprises I think!

Page 20

Océane

Apprehensions and hopes for the trip to Norway

I'm not leaving with a lot of apprehensions, I'm quite curious to see

how the trip will be. All the same , I hope that it will not raining,

there is enough rain here in Britain! Apart from the weather, I am a

bit scared of the welcome and the cohabitation with the family, but

if Vegar's family is like him, nice too, I'm sure everything is gonna be

all right! I hope that I will be not cold in my bed at night, because

Vegar told me that they only have a fireplace to warm all the house.

I hope it will be an interesting trip, I hope that I will discover how

they live in Norway and get to know Norwegian people. I'm afraid

of not succeeding to understand and be understood by the Norwe-

gians... I wish it snowed, to be able to go skiing but Vegar told me

that it's not the period... It doesn't matter, I'm sure we will have fun

After :

I really enjoyed this week in Norway! But, one week was not enough

to discover this country, landscapes, traditions, the food... But it was

not enough especially to get to know people, the mentality is com-

pletely different there! Thanks to this trip, I'm sure I want to travel

all around the world, to have this kind of experience.

Page 21

Océane Romane

I hope to go back to Norway to

be part of a Gatebil show with

my brother, and to see again

those who welcomed me and

those who I didn't have the time

to get to know. I want to thank

Vegar and his family for the

hospitality that they gave me and

some Norwegians for these

wonderful memories. I don't

know what to say apart that I

miss these evenings with them,

these funny and beautiful mo-

ments, as when they gave me

little gifts, or when they knew

the French national song better

than us, or when we went trek-

king in the mountain... I will

never forget them!

Romane

In 13 hours I will be in the bus

with all people of the Euro

class to go to Norway. I have

been waiting for this moment

for a long time because I and

the other French will find our

Norwegian correspondents ...

came to France in February, the

week that we shared with them

was very amazing because in a

few days we became very close.

That’s why I’m exited but also

worried to know if we will live

the same moments and feel the

same feelings as in France. How-

ever I look forward to discover-

ing new landscapes because

Norway is described as one of

the most beautiful countries

(thanks to the pictures of the

town that I have already seen on

different social networks I think I

won’t disappointed !) Moreover

I’m curious to live a new Life-

style. I expect this trip to enrich

me humanly and culturally and

obviously I would like to im-

prove my English!

… that

we left

with great

sadness

nine

months

ago.

When

they

Before :

I feel excited about going to

Norway. I'm just a little anx-

ious about the food because I

don't really like special and

particular food. Except that,

I'm very happy to discover a

new country and I hope I will

enjoy it. I think that I will

spend a good time with my

correspondent, her family and

the rest of Norwegian people.

I'm really looking forward to this. I don't know anything

about this culture but it seems

very interesting to me. I think

I will enjoy the life in Norway

because I know that the land-

scapes are wonderful. I'm

really happy to do this travel

My feelings after the trip :

Going to Norway was a wonderful

experience to. First, the land-

scapes are amazing. The houses

are big and beautiful and it's a rich

country. Norwegian people are

welcoming and nice, so the con-

tact with the family was really

good and I had a very good time

with my correspondent. They

made us discover all their tradi-

tions and habits, and thanks to

them we have learned a lot of

things about Norway. We also

observed a lot of differences be-tween our lifestyles, first because

of the days that end at 4 :00 pm in

winter, because of the school

which isn't as strict as in France. In

Norway, the school day finish ear-

lier and they all have a computer

instead of books and pens. Their

meals are also different : they

aren't at the same time as ours

and they aren't really varied. I

really enjoyed this travel and I

hope I will have the occasion to go

back to Norway, because this

country really attracts me.

Page 23

Léna My feelings before going in

Norway :

I'm so excited to go to Norway ,

this foreign country seems to be

very beautiful . The landscapes

are very different than in

France . First of all we are going

to hear a new language and meet

some new people . At the begin-

ning I think it's going to be un-

settling but it will be a very good

experience . I'm a little bit

scared about the journey , this is

the first time I have taken the

plane . I hope we will discover new things like food, culture,

customs , and traditions . I'm so

happy to see again the Norwe-

gian people I saw in France last

year.

My feelings after going in

Norway : First , it was the best trip I ever

did . I'm very happy about this

trip to Norway . I was staying

with a Norwegian family they

were very nice and friendly with

us . Everything is different in this

foreign country :

-the school : they have class only

in the morning and 1 or 2 hours

in the afternoon . They are really

close with their teacher . They

don’t have so much time to eat :

only 30 minutes and they have

to pay everyday . To open the

door we have only to press a

button it's magic !!! they have a

break every 30 minutes .

We discovered lot of traditional

food : the brown cheese , the

Christmas drink and deer with

potatoes :it was a very good mo-

ment to share this typical meals

with them .

We have seen very wonderful

landscapes like mountains and

lakes sometimes with snow , the

weather all the time : they have

2 meals for the evening one at 4-

5 p.m , and an other around 9

p.m . The language seems diffi-

cult to learn but now we can

introduce ourselves.

MY TRIP TO NORWAY

Part I : Before the departure

From Sunday, November 2nd to Monday, November 10th, I will

make a school trip to Norway, which is organized by my high

school « Lycée Jean Moulin de Châteaulin » for people in junior

year (of high school) who hosted a correspondent last school

year, as me. During this week, I will be hosted by the family of

my correspondent Anne-Marte, in the little town of kyrk-

sæterøra.

Expectations

I have a lot expectations for this journey. To start with, I wish to

improve my English accent and that I will acquire more vocabu-

lary thanks to this trip in Norway. In fact, I really want to speak quite spontaneously with my host family, and I hope to succeed

in doing that at the end of the trip ; However, to start , I just

want them to manage to understand me easily . Besides, I hope

to taste traditional and typical Norwegian dishes. Furthermore, I

am really looking forward to discovering the Norwegian lifestyle,

culture, and customs, but also the landscapes of our partners'

hometown . Moreover, I would like to know the progress of a

day in Norway, that is, mealtimes, sunrise time and bedtime,

things which are probably different from our country.

Page 25

Zohria-Lys

Furthermore, I want to discover the Norwegian education sys-

tem and see how different from our French education system it

is. As a matter of fact, I hope to learn from this trip and to know

better this country where I haven't been yet. Lastly, I hope that

my partner will be less shy than when she was in France and that

I will manage to become integrated into my host family ; most of

all, I hope that they will enjoy my presents and that I will get to

know Anne-Marte better. It would be great if this trip meets my

expectations, and maybe exceeds them …

Apprehensions/fears :

I don't have many apprehensions for this trip. One of my main

fear is not to succeed in talking to my host family. Besides, I am

afraid of forgetting something (in France) while I will need it in

Norway (I have the same fear of forgetting something for when I

will leave Norway for France). State of mind/feelings before going to Norway :

I am impatient to discover this country, its culture and land-

scapes. As the same time, I am really curious to discover how I

will react to the Norwegian climate. At the same time, however,

I am a bit anxious because I am afraid of forgetting something im-

portant . Otherwise, I am really looking forward to riding horse

with Anne-Marte in wild landscapes and I can't wait to see Anne-

Marte again and to meet her family : her mother, her little sister

and her animals (dogs, cats and horse) ! Lastly, I am very excited

so I think I will not sleep a lot during the hours before the depar-

ture ...

MY TRIP TO NORWAY

Part II : After coming back

From Sunday, November 2nd to Monday, November 10th, I did a

school trip to Norway. It was a language exchange with Norwegian

students so I hosted in the family of my correspondent Anne-marte, in

the little town of kyrksæterøra.

This trip to Norway was a really great experience, I could say more, an

unforgettable experience, which will stay in my mind forever. It allowed

me to make some discoveries about different aspects of Norway, about

food, lifetime, and lifestyle obviously. It was a nonstop week, full of

awesome landscapes …

Norwegian food

When I first had a meal in Norway, I was a bit surprised : in the first

place because Norwegian mealtimes are totally different from France ;

but also because in the Norwegian meals, sweet and salty tastes are

mixed. For instance, during breakfast, they can eat eggs, tomatoes and

cheese as marmalade or cereals. Later, around 11.30 am, there is

lunch : often, Norwegians only eat sandwiches with for example brown

cheese, a typical Norwegian cheese with a sweet taste. Then, between

3.30 pm and 5.00 pm. Finally, they eat a sort of snack around 9 pm

(sweet or salty food). I adapted quite easily and quickly. Another ele-

ment was surprising : at the supermarket, frozen food took a lot of

space. Besides, I tasted strange food, like fish balls or brown cheese

with marmalade on bread, or typical cakes made by the grand mother

of Anne-Marte, which were delicious. However, I still prefer French

food …

Page 27

Zohria-Lys Norwegian lifetime : As you may have noticed in the previous paragraph, life times are very

different in Norway, for mealtimes obviously maybe because of school

hours (beginning at 8 am, break at 11.20 am for lunch and end at 3.00

pm). Moreover, night falls soon (in autumn and winter) , around 5 pm

when we were in Norway, but I had the feeling days began after dinner

because we did many activities.

Norwegians' lifestyle :

To start with, at school, students use computers or tablets, they don't

take notes during lessons. Otherwise, Norwegians eat many prepared

dishes ; Besides, They leave their houses open all the time, even in

their absence; people can enter without ringing, as if it was their

home : Norwegians are really trusting! Furthermore, in their houses,

lights are always switched on whether they are absent or not …

My experience in Norway, in my host family

About my host family :

My host family was very kind ! I was able to meet the two grandmoth-

ers who were adorable. Moreover, even if the little sister didn't speak

english, she tried to for me ; however, the brother didn't talk to me …

Only one thing dissapointed me : My correpondent was not very talka-

tive so it was a pity, but she was really nice with me. Thanks to her, I

went on a four hour horse riding trip in Hemne's mountains : It was

just magic ! I had never thought that I could do that one day, what's

more in Norway : I could never thank her enough for this incredible

experience !

About my experience

It was an enriching week : when I think about this trip, my mind is still

full of awesome and wild landscapes (which I saw during the hiking and

the horseback riding) and of my discoveries ! I wish to return to Nor-

way in the future because it is a wonderful country. Furthermore, I

would like to see Hanna, Thea, or Andrea again! They were such fan-

tastic people !

Before going to Norway

It's D-1. I'm excited about this trip but I think I'm going to be very very

restless just a few hours before going to Norway. I hope I will remem-

ber this travel for the rest of my life because of its vibes. I hope we will

discover a lot of new things, like a new culture or a new lifestyle or

simply new landscapes.

I confess I'm a little frightened about the food, if they're going to give

us traditional food or not because it could often be very weird... But

I'm not very anxious about this trip, I'm sure we will have a good time

and create a lot of memories in Norway!

Back

I love being in Norway! I would like to stay more! It's very different

than in France, like for example they finish school at like 2 or 3pm and I

think it's very cool because we can do a lot of things after school. This

is what I preferred during this trip, going to some Norwegians’ house

and hanging out with the others. They make lovely waffles too! It's so

delicious! Speaking about food, they eat all the time! It's kind of weird

at the beginning.. We have a breakfast, then lunch at 11.20 am which is

only a sandwich. At 04:00 pm, we have dinner and to finish there is

supper in the evening when we eat whatever we want. The landscapes

are amazing too! We have been walking on the mountain and I've also

ridden a horse with some other girls.

Now it's Tuesday and I miss Norway so much.. The Norwegians were

so nice and we have done so many things that I will never forget. I can’t

realize it's already finished and I can't even less realize it was the last

time we will them. I really hope they're coming back to France this

summer and I hope I will be able to go back to Norway some day and

have the same wonderful trip I had.

Page 29

Norway

I have been waiting for this trip for such a long time!

I'm going to Norway! I don’t know the name of city where I will

live for 10 days but I know at least the capital : Oslo

I hope the flight and bus trip will not be too long, but we are

leaving at from 03:00 am French time, and will arrive at 17:00

Norwegian time.

I wish it snowed, but I doubt it will.

I would also like to ski. perhaps I will for the first time in my life.

I will miss my family , and I hope the distance will not be too

hard.

My biggest fears are losing my luggage during the travel, or that it

may exceed the maximum weight.

I'm also afraid of not having enough clothes, hence the weight of

my suitcase. I think I will not eat much, because typical Norwegian food does-

n't look appetizing.

But I promise to taste!

And finally, I also hope that the family will be nice and cosy.

Sarah Brucelle.

Page 30

Casey

This trip was my real first journey in another country and it was

really magic. It is not a joke because the Norwegian landscape

was the most beautiful I had ever see . There were the sea and

the mountain in the same place . Yes in Norway it was cold ,but I

didn’t care about that because I would like to be cold when go-

ing to a place like that. The food in the canteen or in my host

family was really much better than in our canteen but we can't

compare. The family where I lived was really kind and really nice

I was really happy to be on this the trip and I discovered many

things about Norway

and I hope I will do something like this trip in the future and I

want to thank our teacher and the Norwegians for this incredible

experience.

Page 31

When I knew that we were going to Norway I was very excited,

because it is one of my favourite countries ! So I'm eager to go

there ! But in the same time I'm scared because I have never

flown ! And I have many questions which are running through my

mind, like, '' What is the weather like there ? '' or '' How will my

partner’s family with me ?'' Or '' will that be cool ?''.In spite of

my questions I'm sure it will be cool! During the week before

leaving for Norway, I was more excited to go there. I counted

the days before leaving. And now I am counting the hours ! My

suitcase is ready, now I am waiting.

Page 32

Thibault

Before the trip

First, I'm afraid of missing the bus or the plane. I think I'm scared

of being apart the others during the travel. A day of bus and

plane alone is not funny I think.

I have been paranoid at the thought of losing or forgetting my

stuff somewhere For a week

But I'm excited to go to another country and the Norwegians

meet again after these 9 months. I hope we will understand each

other, even if it already worked quite well in February.

I don’t know what to think about the plane. I haven’t taken a

plane for almost ten years so I hope it will be safe and nice.

I hope my luggage won’t be lost at the airport and the weather

will be pretty good. Finally, I hope we will keep a lot of memories

of this trip, for us and Mrs. Le Doaré!

To sum up, I’m stressed!

Page 33

Thibault

After the trip

The trip was good. Like VERY good! Even after losing stuff, I can

still recall the pleasure of being a part of this journey weeks after.

I stressed and even if some of my fears were justified , I really

appreciated to discover a little more the culture and the Norwe-

gian language and to observe the differences.

For example, their behaviour towards the electricity and the

lights. Or the kindness of the parents who agreed to drive us to

and from every party and this almost every evening!

In fact, although fun would be a good motivation, I would go back

to Norway just for landscapes. Norwegian guys manage to be

funny and like joking. Norwegians girls are calmer and friendly, to

everyone.

Things in Norwegian shops are very expensive, just the prize of a

hamburger in a restaurant is way too much! I didn't buy souvenirs but all my money has gone in just two Mc Do. And I had taken

the equivalent of 50 € !

Oh god everyone was worrying at each airport while waiting for

the luggage.

I think nobody would say the contrary, The Norwegian school

system is way better than the French.

The majority of the students work on IT devices, tablets or lap-

tops. The classes are friendly and students are not stressed or

worried at all and obviously are more focused and interested in

what they are learning. And this is not at all what we’ve got in

France. So French school, it's time to review your work!
