NOSS A few photos of the climbing trip that wasn’t. Lens Pointer: Andrew Hunter. Models: Ross Jones Paul Whitworth Al Whitworth N.B. Any and all photos you consider to be rubbish are included solely to “tell the story”. Any you like were carefully and laboriously hand-picked and edited purely for their artistic merit.

At the end of the Bressay track. Despite the best attempts of Whitworth, Whitworth and Jones to conjure up excuses for giving up the night before, the sun was shining on Noss.

You call that a jetty!?

Somehow the boat ended up in the water without serious injury.

Page 6: Noss Trip 2012

After a stunning example of rowing technique by Whitworth senior we were finally on Noss. Months of careful planning came to fruition... ...we even had permission!

Some final packing on Noss.

I’m watching you! A blockbuster in the making?

Eventually we were ready for the long slog up the Island

Page 9: Noss Trip 2012

BUY BUY, SELL SELL!

Suddenly the peace and tranquility of our uninhabited island was shattered by the encroach of modern technology.

Half way up the hill, smiling as if we were enjoying ourselves.

THE ROUTE

Unfortunately optimism and stupidity weren’t enough. We fled in search of greener pastures.

Page 12: Noss Trip 2012

“Greener” might have been an ironic choice of words. - Ross scrapes the bottom of the barrel in search of something worth climbing.

Climbers in full retreat!

Page 14: Noss Trip 2012

Back at the boat and the current wasn’t keen on us getting home in one piece.

Page 15: Noss Trip 2012

So we waited..

...and waited...

Page 16: Noss Trip 2012

and waited.

Page 17: Noss Trip 2012

The row back was

“INTERESTING” ......so there are no photos.

Page 18: Noss Trip 2012

But we finally made it back ‘home’.

Page 19: Noss Trip 2012

Ross couldn’t let a day of a climbing trip end without climbing SOMETHING so we set off once again.

Page 20: Noss Trip 2012

Al climbed roughly a tenth of the height of the original objective

Page 21: Noss Trip 2012

But never mind, climbing is climbing at the end of the day.

Back to basecamp where ‘Chef Jones’ excelled himself

The next morning was worth rolling out of your sleeping bag for.
