THEORIES

THEORIES.

1. Lock & Key specific enzyme FITS into a specific substrate

2. Induced Fit substrate ASSUMES the shape of the enzyme so as it would be able to fit; then the enzyme would be regenerated

ENZYMES

1. Oxidoreductases redox reaction( Dehydrogenases, oxidases, oxigenases, reductases, peroxidases, hydroxylases )

removal of H+ - oxidation

2. Transferases catalyzes a transfer of amino groups from one molecule to another

( Transcarboxylases, transmethylases, transamylases, kinases)

a portion of the enzyme usually binds covalently with its enzyme or coenzyme

requires presence of coenzyme

3. Hydrolases hydrolysis( Esterases, phosphatases, peptidases, amylases )

special class of transferase in which water serves as acceptor of the group transferred

4. Lyases non-hydrolytic and non-oxidative elimination reaction lysis of a subject generating a double bond

In the reverse direction of lyase, it catalyze the addition of one substrate to the double bond of the second substrate( Decarboxylases, hydratases, dehydratases, synthases )

5. Isomerases catalyzes isomerization (rearrangement) reactions

( Epimerases, Mutases )

6. Ligases catalyzes ligation

joining of 2 substrates, requires an input of energy in the form of ATP.

( Synthetase )
