T oday we celebrate the Thirtieth Sunday of Ordinary Time. Paul, in the Second Letter to Timothy, writes that the race for himself is almost over. He offers words of a man who sees most of his life behind him. The way
has not always been easy, but God has been faithful to him. Paul feels that the race of life was a good one, and even though now he is in prison, he still believes in God’s goodness. Paul encourages Timothy and us to run a good race as well. We are called to seek the prize: Jesus Christ. Today, the St. Kieran Catholic Women’s Club is sponsoring their Fall bake sale in the vestibule. Thanks to all the parishioners who baked, and thanks to everyone who will purchase some treats today. I always laugh, that as quickly as the baked goods come in, someone is waiting to gobble them up. All of the proceeds help fund the programs and charities that the Catholic Women’s Club sponsor. Thanks. Last Saturday, the Knights of Columbus held their Rosary Rally. It was a way to connect with other Knights across the country in honoring our Blessed Mother. Thanks to Fr. Tom, Joanne, and the choir for joining in this prayer experience.
This coming Friday, St. Kieran will host our Trunk or Treat celebration. There will be trick-or-treating in the parking lot from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Then the party moves inside to Crawford Hall for other activities for the children. The party ends at 9:00 PM. Thanks to Sheila and all the volunteers who are helping to make this event a success. See you there! Halloween is a celebration for Christians of our belief in life over death. We laugh at death and wear scary costumes, knowing that through Jesus’ death we will experience new life. Halloween is the hallowed eve of All Saints Day. All Saints Day is a day to remember all those people who the church holds up as models of Christian faith for us to follow. This year we will have two masses on All Saints Day. They will be at 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 1st. On Wednesday, November 2nd, we will celebrate the Feast of All Souls. We invite you to mass at 7:00 PM as we remember those who have died this year, along with all of our family and friends. Please join us for these celebrations.

St. Agnes has hosted a Shawl Ministry group for a number of years. They are a small group of knitters and crocheters who make baby afghans for families who are baptizing, shawls for the sick or homebound and neck scarves for PADS guests. A lot of the work may be done at home, but they meet once a month for about an hour at St. Agnes, usually on the last Thursday of the month at 10 AM for a cup of coffee, com-pany, and to pray while they work. If you’re in-terested in joining the group, please call Ann at 756-2635 or Kay in the parish office at St. Agnes at 709-2694.
P.S. Plenty of supplies are available, so please think about coming to learn how to knit or just for the fellowship!
