Kindergarten Kindergarten has been working on steady beat and no beat in music. They will continue to work on steady beat as well as loud vs. soft, high vs. low, and fast vs. slow sounds in music. We do lots of movement in music and have been recently introducing instruments in our songs (triangles, tone chimes, tone blocks, drums, rhythm sticks). We have also been learning how music notes can walk (quarter note-ta), run(eighth notes- ti-ti), rest/sleep(quarter rest-sh), hop(half note-ta-a), and gallop/skip(quarter note followed by single eighth note-ta-ti). First Grade First grade has been working on steady beat and no beat, pitches of high and low, how melody moves upward and downward by steps and how notes repeat. They will continue to work on this as well as loud vs. soft, high vs. low, and fast vs. slow sounds. We have been doing lots of movement in music, playing the resonator bells to practice solfege sol and mi, and learning first grade rhythms through a game called "Rake up our rhythms": Quarter note (ta), Quarter Rest (sh), and a set of eighth notes (ti-ti). Second Grade Second grade has been working a lot on pitch of high and low, how melody moves upward and downward and reviewing ta/ti-ti/ta-a (quarter note, pair of eighth notes, and half note) rhythms through a game called ?Rake up our Rhythms?. We have been doing lots of movement, playing the resonator bells and have been introduced to 2nd grade rhythms such as: half note (ta-a), half rest (sh-sh), whole note (ta-a-a-a), and whole rest (sh,sh,sh,sh). We will begin to work on sound effects as well as review so/mi/la syllables with solfege. They will also reveiw how music moves upward and downward through steps and skips. Third Grade Third grade has been working on a rap a unit and has been introduced to 3rd grade rhythms such as: sixteenth notes(tiri-tiri), dotted half note(ta-a-a), syncopated rhythm,(ti-ta-ti) and a single eighth note followed by two sixteenth notes(ti-tiriri). You will see a display of their class raps at parent teacher conferences. They will next learn how to create harmony through partner songs, rounds, ostinatos and chords with voice and bells in October. Kindergar t en

Kindergarten has been working on steady beat and no beat in music. They will continue to work on steady beat as well as loud vs. soft, high vs. low, and fast vs. slow sounds in music. We do lots of movement in music and have been recently introducing instruments in our songs (triangles, tone chimes, tone blocks, drums, rhythm

sticks). We have also been learning how music notes can walk (quarter note-ta), run(eighth notes- ti-ti), rest/sleep(quarter rest-sh), hop(half note-ta-a), and gallop/skip(quarter note followed by single eighth note-ta-ti).

First Grade

First grade has been working on steady beat and no beat, pitches of high and low, how melody moves upward and downward by steps and how notes repeat. They will continue to work on this as well as loud vs. soft, high vs.

low, and fast vs. slow sounds. We have been doing lots of movement in music, playing the resonator bells to practice solfege sol and mi, and learning first grade rhythms through a game called "Rake up our rhythms":

Quarter note (ta), Quarter Rest (sh), and a set of eighth notes (ti-ti).

Second Grade

Second grade has been working a lot on pitch of high and low, how melody moves upward and downward and reviewing ta/ti-ti/ ta-a (quarter note, pair of eighth notes, and half note) rhythms through a game called ?Rake up our Rhythms?. We have been doing lots of movement, playing the resonator bells and have been introduced to 2nd grade rhythms such as: half note (ta-a), half rest (sh-sh), whole note (ta-a-a-a), and whole rest (sh,sh,sh,sh).

We will begin to work on sound effects as well as review so/mi/ la syllables with solfege. They will also reveiw how music moves upward and downward through steps and skips.

Third Grade

Third grade has been working on a rap a unit and has been introduced to 3rd grade rhythms such as: sixteenth notes(tiri-tiri), dotted half note(ta-a-a), syncopated rhythm,(ti-ta-ti) and a single eighth note followed by two

sixteenth notes(ti-tiriri). You will see a display of their class raps at parent teacher conferences. They will next learn how to create harmony through partner songs, rounds, ostinatos and chords with voice and bells in

October.
