Salutations!
November is finally over! Man it’s
been a long month but it was such a
charitable month as well. I want to per-
sonally thank everyone who participat-
ed during the miracle minute at the
DCM. Together we raised 76 dollars to-
wards the relief effort for the Philippines.
Give yourself a pat in the back.
Thank you as well for those who
participated in the food drive. Also, I
want to give a shout out to Aurora Au-
thement! She donated 20 dollars to the
miracle minute and gave a lot of items
to the Thanksgiving Basket. Keep up the
great work Aurora!
As December comes and goes, so
does the club officers, including myself.
Which means a new generation of offic-
ers must step forth and become the
new symbol of leadership and guidance
for this club. Elections will come after
Winter Break so start thinking of what
position you wish to run for.

Gingerbread Jamboree
As usual, the Bicentennial
Pavilion at the Murano Hotel
was packed with children
and candy which we could-
n’t eat.
The gingerbread houses
seen there were very fancy. I
have to admit, I’m pretty sure
that some of those kids can
decorate a gingerbread
house much better than I
can.
The area was filled with
Christmas spirit and for those
who couldn’t go this year to
try and make it next year.

THE ELIMINATE PROJECT
What is the Eliminate Project?
This project is a joint project with
Kiwanis and UNICEF to internation-
ally eliminate maternal and neo-
natal tetanus.
What is MNT?
In 30 countries around the
world, maternal and neonatal
tetanus (MNT) can quickly turn
the joy of childhood into a
tragedy. MNT kills one baby
every nine minutes. Its effects
are excruciating– tiny new-
borns suffer repeated, painful
convulsions and extreme sensi-
tivity to light and touch. There
is little hope of survival. And
tetanus kills mothers to.
Who Suffers from MNT?
MNT is caused when tetanus
spores, found in soil everywhere,
comes into contact with open
cuts during childbirth. This disease
strikes poorest of the poor, the ge-
ographically hard to reach and
those without health care.
$1.80 is enough to save a
mother and her newborn’s
life.
