TRANSCRIPT
Books I Like
Just a couple of them…
A student in a 10th grade honors class should be able to
read a fun book (280-350 pages) in two days, a
challenging book in three to four days max
UCI’s lowest level English class requires you to read 350+
pages a week for ten weeks.
Everything can be improved with practice
and technique
Reading levels: Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants:
600 Lexile = 6th grade
Twilight: 700 Lexile = 7th gradeHarry Potter: 880 Lexile = 8th
Uncle Tom’s Cabin: 1050Tale of Two Cities: 1130The Good Earth: 1530
Please make sure the book subject matter is okay for you
and your family- do some research, if you are unsure.
Non-AP books. While you may learn something from these books, they are not on the list of AP/Honors Books. I have read ALL of
these books and like them.
There are other books I’ve read that I recommend but they are
either too “young” or too “mature” to recommend for the
typical high school student. Please see me, if none of these book
interest you.
These books have appeared multiple times on the Advanced Placement Exam. I recommend reading two of
these each year of high school. These books are NOT the core reading
novels we read at FVHS. I have read all of these and like them.
Some of my favorite Graphic Novels
Magazines I like, that will help you get
ahead in life and help you see the world
differently.
