Prayer Requests for the Week of November 19
Ministry Focus: New Image
Pray that those in later stages of life will continue to bear fruit for Christ, growing in their desire to worship and to serve the Lord and his church. Psalm 92:12-15: The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming, “The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him." Praises & Prayers
• Praise God for successful surgery for Joe Schilly. Pray for strength in recovery.
• NHPBC Family: Michael and Jessie Pamas, George and Nicholas; Barbara Parchment; George and Maritza Penaherrera, Mathias.
A Special Thank You from the OCC Team
We had a great Operation Christmas Child Packing Party this past Sunday. I want to thank all who brought items to put in the shoeboxes and all who participated. I also want to thank especially those who helped with the children - not only overseeing what was put in the shoebox but giving them a sense of giving to those who may never have received a gift before. The children had a great time selecting an age group and then selecting items for that person.
We packed 107 boxes and may have packed more but we ran out of items to put in the boxes. Now, we have the opportunity to pray for these shoeboxes and the child who receives it that their hearts will be touched by God.
This is really a mission event for each shoebox as each carries with it a testimony about Jesus (put in by Samaritan's Purse), an opportunity to take a discipleship course to learn more about Jesus, and an opportunity to accept Him as their Savior. Many have done just that - and many children have become missionaries themselves leading friends and family to Christ. Apart from that, I feel each box is taken by the Lord and delivered to a specific child who may have been praying, desiring, wanting a specific item and their shoebox contains just that item. Many feel joy and love because you packed a box for them. Remember to pray for the child who will receive the shoebox you packed.
Missions Focus: Long Island Youth for Christ (YFC)
This fall, YFC clubs started in high schools and middle schools all over the Long
Island with the goal of reaching students with the gospel. Let's get behind our
teenagers as they navigate through middle and high school.
Please Pray:
• For YFC Core Clubs - These clubs desire to raise up student leaders by
coaching them to run Christian clubs in their schools.
o Pray for student leaders who are running the core clubs in their school.
o Pray for teachers and administration to be supportive of students and
clubs.
o Pray for YFC staff Jennifer Halfant as she mentors teens and coaches
clubs.
o Pray for Emma Ort as the YFC Core Director as she supervises and
mentors staff.
• For City Life Clubs – These clubs provide a holistic ministry looking to meet
both the spiritual and physical needs of young people.
o Pray for the Central Islip club and for more sites to be started.
o Pray against gang violence and for peace for the community.
o Pray for potential staff, Morgen, to be hired and fully funded to run this
location.
• For Campus Life Clubs – These clubs provide a safe and comfortable
place for young people to meet Jesus.
o Pray for Port Washington Club and staff, Michael O'Hora.
o Pray for South Shore Nassau Club (Malverne) and staff, Clai Williams.
• For the YFC budget. Last year was a tough year. However, they are
praying God will finance the next chapter of YFC. Pray for individuals,
churches, and businesses to rise up and fund the mission.
• For God to raise up new staff and volunteers to come on board and aid in
the building of the kingdom. More staff, more volunteers, more sites, and
more teens to find Jesus.
• For the office staff and Board of Directors. Pray for the Executive Director,
Craig, whose leadership and passion for the lost inspires them to keep on
going. Pray for his health, family and stamina.
Please email the church office at [email protected] if you: (1) would like a copy
of the directory, (2) have an announcement for the weekly bulletin; (3) would like to
join our Google email list; (4) would like a set of numbered offering envelopes for
tithing.
