or touch. It is the child’s body and they should have the right to say who can and can’t touch them. By teaching this to them in a known, controlled environ-ment, they will have a better chance of doing the same in the unknown. If they are cornered, is there some type of weapon they can use? The child may be too small to hit the assailant upside the head but a good whack to the knees; arch of the foot or toes can sometimes slow the “bad guy” down. One of the most important things a parent needs to make clear to the child is to run away and put as much distance as pos-sible between them and their assailant if they become free.

Fusion Self Defense Course for Kids
This very unique course has been created by LeAnn Stanhope from the techniques that she learned during her time in the Canadian Military Police. The content of this course is not allowed to be
taught in Canada as it is reserved only for the Police forces.
This course is fantastic for kids, Mums and Dads who are not tough or aggressive by nature. The skills taught in this work-shop require little strength and
are designed to get an attacker to stop long enough for you to get
away. It is a fun, interactive workshop that includes, pressure points, martial arts and holds that
will help you to get out of a sticky situation.

Can Our Kids Defend Themselves?
Lets face it, a 200 pound, six-foot man can overpower a fifty-five pound child almost any given day. There is no way the kid-napped, assaulted child can fight the brute strength of an adult. This isn’t to say there aren’t any self-defense teachings the child should learn. The best thing a child can have going for them is a protective parent who teaches more than just the common “don’t talk to strangers” rule. Be honest with the children and explain more than just “some people like to hurt little children.” Think up scenarios and rehearse them with your child.. Parents also need to teach their children to yell NO and continue to yell. Teaching this may seem like a foreign con-cept to many parents. The thing is, many don’t know how to use it in situations with other adults. There is a fine line between being polite and respectful to an adult and knowing when to back away and say no to unwanted attention
"Success is not
measured by what you
accomplish but by the
opposition you have
encountered, and the
courage with which you
have maintained the
struggle against
overwhelming odds."

Kung Fu Teaches Winning isn’t Everything
Do the Green Thing
Your Neck Pain Could Actually be a Dirty Liver
WuFei is the very talented
Kung Fu instructor from
Shanghai.
Global Citizenship
My country is the world, and my
religion is to do good
Children from ages 5 to 12 can benefit from Kung Fu because it not only teaches them self-defense, but devel-ops important mental, so-cial, emotional and behav-ioral skills such as:
Memorization
Concentration
Critical thinking
Self discipline
Confidence
Self-esteem
Perseverance
Respect for others
Lifelong healthy living
habits
The positive skills young children develop through Kung Fu training can then carry over into other pursuits in their lives and lead to ef-fective study and work habits that will follow them through-out their life as they grow up and advance through their schooling and enter their careers as adults. Traditional Kung Fu training is ideal for the non-athletic type. There are many who do not care for team sports. Some may have self confi-dence problems because they are small, uncoordi-nated, shy, or afraid of being pushed around. Pressure to perform well can lead to
even greater loss of self esteem. The advantage of Kung Fu in-struction is that it can be individu-alized. It can help a child develop confidence without worrying about winning. Kung Fu training also exposes them to Chinese culture, as they study the art of self de-fense.
Fusion offers Kids Kung Fu Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:45pm—6pm. See schedule on
the back of the newsletter for class times.

of the neck, a congested liver is
sometimes the culprit when con-
ventional treatment does not
seem to be making a difference.
A sore knee is sometimes simply
a sore knee. However in some
cases if an injury has not oc-
curred and the biomechanics of
the body and gait are normal,
this is not the case. A sore knee
where the kneecap joins the
main bone of the leg, could be
an indicator of a vitamin or min-
eral deficiency like selenium and
vitamin E.

very low levels of the essential Vitamins necessary to provide
a balanced diet. Canine Boost addresses the concern that commercial pet
food is not a balanced diet and will not keep your dog healthy. Canine Boost is rich in Vita-min E, Vitamin D, Vitamin A and also Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. Vitamin A aids in the growth and repair of body
tissue, especially the skin and linings of the Mucous mem-
branes, it also promotes good eyesight. Vitamin D
Canine Boost greatly enhances the immune system and is rich in OMEGA 3 and OMEGA 6 Fatty Acids. A dogs need for a balanced diet is no less important than our own. Evidence of poor nutrition presents itself on a daily basis.
Strong doggy odour
Hot spots
Bad breath
Allergic skin diseases

role in allergic skin disorders. WEIGHT MAINTENANCE
Canine Boost may be used as a weight loss agent by regulating
Sodium balance, dispersing a dogs water retention and promoting fat

From “The Independent” Mon-day 26th October 2009
Hong Kong air pollution has equaled a record high registered in 2000, triggering a warning for people with heart or respiratory illnesses, the Environmental Protection Department said Sat-urday. A pall of smog hung over the city, restricting views across the world famous Victoria Harbour as pollutants built up due to a lack of wind. Roadside air pollution readings reached a "very high" reading of 174 overnight in Central district, equaling a record set nine years ago. When the index exceeds 101, "persons with existing heart or respiratory illnesses are ad-vised to reduce physical exertion and outdoor activities", the de-partment said. Air pollution levels were forecast to remain very high Saturday. The problem of air pollution in Hong Kong prompted Australia earlier this year to include a health alert in its advice to travel-lers to the southern Chinese city, warning that it could aggravate
some medical conditions. Pollution has in recent years become an increasing health and economic headache for the au-thorities in the city of seven mil-lion. Emissions from the factory belt in southern China over Hong Kong's northern border combined with local emissions from power plants and transport to generate a thick haze over the city for large parts of last year.
Here at Fusion Health & Fit-ness we have a $40,000 pollu-tion particle scanner at our dis-posal to make sure we are ade-quately terrified everyday about what we are breathing.
We have an IQ Air running at all times at the Studio to ensure the cleanest air in Hong Kong to workout in!
Follow us on Twitter and find out whether it is really really foggy or whether it is pollution! To give you an example of what is clean— A good day in the Canadian Rocky Mountains is 7,000 particles/liter . The last week in Hong Kong has been
between 900,000 and 1.4million particles/liter!!!
It won’t solve the pollution crisis but we have become the DB Dis-tributor for IQ Air Purifiers which I think are the best in the world. We get an amazing discount and can therefore offer the cheapest price in Hong Kong! These puri-fiers measure 0 particles/liter by the way. The HealthPro 250 takes out even odours and vi-ruses.
