Homecoming Floats

ADPi & Sig Ep “This is my second year as head float chair and

it has instilled in me a sense of leadership, creativity, and responsibility. I think that float is a time to get to know you sisters better, as well as the fraternity men that you’re working with to create long lasting relationships. At 4 am at the parade lineup, all of the float chairs join

together and seem to have an unspoken bond. It really is a time to bond with people from all of the fraternities and sororities.” – Ashley Frank

Tri Delta & Phi Chi

“Float is an awesome opportunity not only to get to know your sisters better, but to form

relationships with fraternity members as well. That fact that two hundred people come

together to transform an empty trailer into a full-fledged float in a little less than two months

is incredible!” – Lyndi Conradt

Kappa & ATO “It has been so much fun watching our two

organizations come together to build another award winning float. It has been such a great experience working with such a wonderful

chapter.” – Allie Spear

Pi Phi & Kappa Sig

“Serving Pi Phi as a float chair for two years has been nothing short of a blessing. It has been

amazing to see something that we envisioned back in April come alive these past few months. I cannot wait for Homecoming, when I am able to

share the finished float with all of Baylor University! I have loved every minute of it, and it

makes me sad to think that this the last float I will be building for our chapter.” - Amy Stone

Chi Omega & Phi Delt “I love float because it gives me the time to

socialize with friends that I don’t get to see in my classes. I also love that it involves crafting!” –

Bethany Brenneman

Zeta & Delt

“Float is an amazing opportunity to bond with your sisters and friends while creating something

we can all be proud to show the Baylor community.” – Kami Marnach

Theta & SAE “Being a float chair has been the most exhausting

and rewarding position!” – Abby Bartlett

Each year at Homecoming, the Panhellenic chapters pair with IFC chapters to create floats to be entered into the Homecoming parade. Floats are judged in classes, and awards are given for each class, as well as judges’

and people’s choice awards. Get ready for what might roll down 5th street at the parade!

Good Luck,

Everyone!

“Pigskin is one of the best experiences as a Tri Delta member because you not only witness girls working as unified group to achieve a goal, you also get to experience the consistent love, encouragement, and friendship that each girl puts forth with her sisters. Such a blessing!” – Amanda Kendig, Delta Delta Delta “Pigskin has been such an incredible opportunity for our chapter. We are so thankful that we were given the chance to share this act with the younger member class and can’t wait to perform this week! Being a SING and Pigskin chair has hands down been my favorite college experience thus far and has given me so many memories that I will cherish for years to come.” – Amelia Garret, Kappa Alpha Theta “Pigskin is my favorite activity with Chi O. Its such a fun, lighthearted time to get together and practice with friends without having to feel the competitive pressure that SING puts on us!” – Jennifer Jaggers, Chi Omega

“Take a short trip outside of town. Sometimes leaving the Baylor bubble is the best cure for finals time! New scenery and getting away from all the distractions allows for better

study time and can also help ease those finals blues.” – Erica Benken, Zeta Tau Alpha

Fabulous Fall Events

The ladies of Chi Omega held their annual Chili Cook-Off on October 21st. Chili Cook-Off allows members of the Baylor community, faculty and staff, to enter chili into a competition to be judged. All proceeds are donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which is Chi-O’s national philanthropy. This year, bands from Uproar Records performed during the festivities, and ATO’s Bed Races also paired up with the event. They ended up raising over $15,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which allows them to grant two wishes!

Alpha Delta Pi’s Tug for Tots Chi Omega’s Chili Cook-Off

Alpha Delta Pi hosted their second annual Tug for Tots event on October 16th in Minglewood Bowl. Tug for Tots is a single-elimination tug of war competition that benefits the Ronald McDonald House and the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation. The event included men and women’s tug of war brackets, a raffle contest, and hot dogs courtesy of Pi Kappa Phi.

Kappa Alpha Theta’s CASA Carnival was held October 19th on Fountain Mall and helped raise money for Theta’s philanthropy, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). It was an event for both the Waco and Baylor communities. With multiple inflatables and bounce houses, carnival themed food such as curly fries, corn dogs, popcorn, and cotton candy, everyone enjoyed raising money for children in need! Theta also hosted their first annual Mr. CASAnova pageant, which consisted of Baylor Greeks and other organizations competing in a male pageant. The ladies raised $4,097 for CASA!

Zeta Tau Alpha Yogurt Eating Contest

During national Think Pink week, in addition to selling t-shirts and raising awareness on campus, Baylor Zetas hosted their first annual yogurt-eating contest on Baylor’s campus. Multiple IFC and ZTA teams signed up to see who could finish their 15 Yoplait yogurts the fastest, while collecting the pink lids for breast cancer research. The contest contributed 197 lids to their collection!

Delta Delta Delta Fright

Fright Night is an annual haunted house held by the gentlemen of Phi Gamma Delta and the ladies of Delta Delta Delta during Halloween weekend. Members from both groups got together to scare visitors as they walked through the haunted house. All proceeds benefited the Waco YoungLife chapter!

Kappa Klassic Golf Tournament

Kappa Klassic Golf Tournament was held on October 22nd at the Cottonwood Golf Course. The tournament, with a maximum of 22 teams, was made up of Baylor students and families. This year, with a large amount of teams and help from sponsors, Kappa Kappa Gamma raised over $10,000. The money will benefit Leah Grace Parker and the Kind Campaign.

Zeta Tau Alpha Strike-A-Thon

The ladies of Zeta Tau Alpha held their annual bowling event, Strike-A-Thon, on September 29th. Baylor students registered to bowl on teams in support of Zeta’s philanthropy, breast cancer education and awareness. The chapter raised approximately $4,000 from this event, and saw participation from nearly all Panhellenic and IFC chapters!

Kappa Alpha Theta 5K Spooktacular

On October 29th, Baylor Thetas helped out with the CASA 5K Spooktacular by dressing up, running booths at the event, and even running in the race. All proceeds benefited CASA.

PHC Events What’s your favorite Thanksgiving

tradition?

Pi Beta Phi loves the Fall Festival that Baylor puts on every year. Another favorite tradition is going around the dinner table and saying what you are thankful for before sharing a Thanksgiving meal! “My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is getting to come home and watch Thanksgiving Day football games with my family. It’s just not Thanksgiving until the Cowboys hit the field!” – Stephanie Ahrens, Alpha Delta Pi “One of my favorite Baylor traditions is the All-University Thanksgiving meal. Every year, before the students go home for the Thanksgiving holiday, we have the opportunity to join in fellowship and indulge in a delicious meal. It’s a great time to catch up with friends, enjoy the crisp fall weather, and enjoy a great pre-Thanksgiving feast!” – Laurance Kreamer, Alpha Chi Omega “My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is that my family always makes turkey tacos instead of a normal turkey dinner. It’s fun and silly, and it makes my family unique. Also, none of us like turkey at all unless it’s in a tortilla with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and salsa!” – Whitney Van Laningham, Kappa Alpha Theta “Every year for Thanksgiving, my family wakes up really early to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving’s Day Parade and start cooking the turkey!” – Morgan Hanley, Kappa Kappa Gamma “My favorite thing about Thanksgiving is walking with my family and dog, Spencer, in the Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. It’s a tradition we’ve participated in every year, and I wouldn’t miss it!” – Grace Chambers, Chi Omega “I love sharing Thanksgiving with my family, but the best part about it is that it’s one step closer to Christmas!” – Christy Leggitt, Zeta Tau Alpha
