We can look back on what was a terrific boating year and look forward to another win- ter of potlucks and social festivities. Our final big event of the year will be the Commodore’s Holiday Gala and the passing of the torch to the next round of officers. This will happen Wednesday, December 16th at The Bay Café. Stay tuned for details. The LIYC continues to offer all of us a great social outlet and the companionship of so many inter- esting and diverse people. I have been very fortunate to be a part of the club for 10 years and count many of my best friends here as people I have met through our continuing membership. We have grown and flourished through the unselfish volun- teerism of everyone, and we hope that is continues this way. For those new members who want to dip their toes in first, a presentation is a great and easy way to participate. Any- thing goes (except, of course political, religious or commer- cial topics) and you only need 20-30 minutes worth of mate- rial for your show. Hopefully, it would include boats or a water trip of some kind, but you can shake it up if you’d like! A destination that can be reached by boat is definitely a good topic, whether you got there by boat or not. Share your pictures and experiences. Be sure to talk to Paul Hen- riksen if you have a presentation you would like to do in 2016. He will be our Vice Commodore and will be in charge of arranging our General Membership Meeting hosts and presentations. Help him pick out your 2016 presenta- tion month now! Planning to join some of our rendezvous’ next year? Whether you are a first time participant or salty veteran, get involved with the planning. Brian Krantz will be our new Rear Commodore and will be setting up the calendar for 2016. Continued on page 3

COMMODORE’ S CORNER

Greetings, LIYC Members,

Another year is wrapping up. We can look back on what

was a terrific boating year and look forward to another win-

ter of potlucks and social festivities. Our final big event of

the year will be the Commodore’s Holiday Gala and the

passing of the torch to the next round of officers. This will

happen Wednesday, December 16th at The Bay Café. Stay

tuned for details. The LIYC continues to offer all of us a

great social outlet and the companionship of so many inter-

esting and diverse people. I have been very fortunate to be a

part of the club for 10 years and count many of my best

friends here as people I have met through our continuing

membership.

We have grown and flourished through the unselfish volun-

teerism of everyone, and we hope that is continues this way.

For those new members who want to dip their toes in first, a

presentation is a great and easy way to participate. Any-

thing goes (except, of course political, religious or commer-

cial topics) and you only need 20-30 minutes worth of mate-

rial for your show. Hopefully, it would include boats or a

water trip of some kind, but you can shake it up if you’d

like! A destination that can be reached by boat is definitely

a good topic, whether you got there by boat or not. Share

your pictures and experiences. Be sure to talk to Paul Hen-

riksen if you have a presentation you would like to do in

2016. He will be our Vice Commodore and will be in

charge of arranging our General Membership Meeting hosts

and presentations. Help him pick out your 2016 presenta-

tion month now!

Planning to join some of our rendezvous’ next year?

Whether you are a first time participant or salty veteran, get

involved with the planning. Brian Krantz will be our new

Rear Commodore and will be setting up the calendar for

2016.

COMMODORE’S CORNER, continued

Weigh in on where you’d like to cruise next summer. Give some input towards the North

Cruise, if you plan on going on our biggest cruising adventure. Help Brian out by volunteer-

ing to host one of the cruises. It is easy, usually only requiring the host to show up a couple of

hours early to help people get on the docks. The host also sets up a schedule for the weekend,

usually a potluck one night and perhaps a group dinner out another night. It couldn’t be sim-

pler and, if you haven’t done a rendezvous yet, you are missing out! Talk to Brian and let him

know if you can host in 2016. Other LIYC board positions open up every year, and we en-

courage anyone to consider participating. There is no rocket science involved and the time

investment is minimal. We are all very lucky to have LIYC and I believe we all want to see it

succeed into the distant future.

Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!

Doug
