"Proclaiming the saving grace of

Jesus Christ to all."

From the Heart of Your Shepherd

Mission Statement

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them

in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And

behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:19-20

Matthew 28:19 is what we call the Great Commission. It is

referring to Jesus giving His church the charge to go and make

disciples of all nations. In other words, we are to go the ends

of the earth proclaiming the good news of Jesus’ death and

resurrection. Why? Because we know that apart from faith in

Jesus Christ people are without hope. We look at all that it

means for us to know Jesus as our Savior, and we want others to

have that same comfort.

The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod began overseas mission work in

1895. The LCMS only came into existence in 1847. The leaders of

the Missouri Synod were very early on looking for opportunities

to take the Gospel message into places where the church was not

already working. The first opportunity that came for overseas

mission was in India. Today, the LCMS is involved in mission

work in over ninety countries around the world.

It used to be quite common for local congregations to have an

annual mission festival. The purpose of those mission festivals

was to educate members of local congregations on the work that

was being done in other places. It was also an opportunity for

the members of the local congregation to consider how they might

be spurred on to be more involved with the mission of the church

on a broader scale.

On November 3, we will have Rev. Bob Bennet with us. He will be

preaching during the service that Sunday and also presenting

during Sunday morning Bible study. Rev. Bennet is the executive

director for Luther Academy. Luther Academy is a mission

organization of the synod that seeks to bring sound Lutheran

teaching to countries throughout the world. Rev. Bennet will be

talking about the work of Luther Academy and also world

Lutheranism. Where you find Lutherans has changed in recent

years. We know that the Lutheran Church in America has been

numerically declining for many years. However, Lutheranism is

growing rapidly in Africa and other parts of the world. This

will be a great opportunity to learn how the mission of the

church is being carried out in other places.

In His service,

Pastor Olson

Sermon Texts and Titles

November 3: Rev. Bob Bennet from Luther Academy will be preaching. He

will tell us about the mission work that Luther Academy is carrying out in

many different countries. He will also talk about world Lutheranism.

November 7 & 10: We will have our Veterans’ Day service on November 10.

Our text for this day will be Mark 10:35-45. The title of the sermon will

be “Thank You for Your Service.” We will look at how God has blessed us

through the service of others. We will especially focus on how Jesus has

served us by laying down His life for our sins on the cross.

November 14 &17: Pentecost 23 also marks the second to the last Sunday in

the church year. That means that our attention begins to shift to the end

times. Our attention shifts to the day when Jesus will return into this

world. Our text for this day will be the psalm, Psalm 98. The title of

the sermon will be “Joy to the World.” Through faith in Jesus, we are

able to look forward to His return into this world with great joy.

November 21 & 24: This day marks the last Sunday in the church year. The

next Sunday will a new church year. Our lectionary reading series will

switch, in our three year reading series, to Series C. It is on the last

Sunday of the church year that we focus on the day when Jesus will return

and take us to be with Him. Our sermon text will be Luke 23:34. Our text

reminds us of how often in this world we don’t all that we would like.

There are even times when we wonder if God knows. Jesus assures us, as we

live out our faith in these last times, that God does indeed know what He

is doing. The world around is already getting ready for Christmas, but we

know that it’s different in the church. We are not just looking forward

to celebrating Jesus’ first advent. We are also looking forward to Jesus’

second advent.

November 27: Our Thanksgiving service will be held on Thanksgiving Eve at

7:30pm. The text of the sermon will be Philippians 4:6-9. The title of

the sermon will be “Thanksgiving Anxiety.” Thanksgiving is a time when we

focus on giving thanks to God for all of the blessings that we receive in

our lives. But what should be our attitude toward the things that cause

us anxiety? Our text for this day tells us what it is that drives out

anxiety and what our attitude should be toward those things that don’t

look like blessings.

St. Paul Lutheran School News Wild About Jesus, I Corinthians 15:57

Walk-a-Thon: The NEW Walk-a-Thon was a huge success again this year. The

event raised $17,170. This is another new record! We thank God for all

of the people who so generously supported this event. The continued

success of this event is remarkable. The funds raised go directly to

support our mission of providing excellence in Christ-centered education.

Fall Festival: The fall festival was held on October 4. There were lots

of families that came out even though we were competing with LC homecoming

and other area events.

4K News from Mrs. Cheslock’s Classroom: Wow! It is so hard to believe one fourth of our school year is done! I have had

so much fun getting to know my class... I have never had such a small class... and at first I will be honest, I was afraid of it. If you

don’t know me well ...let’s just say I have taught little people for many years and I have always enjoyed lots of action and have

embraced a more busy classroom. I was a little afraid a small class would be too quiet. I have come to really enjoy having the

opportunity to really get to know my class and play with them all daily.... and they are far from too quiet! Does that give you insight as

to who I am ... or what character traits I may possess...? Let’s just say I love to play... I went through school always trying to see the

value, fun, and purpose in what I did at school...and as a result I seek to provide the same for my students. Plus let’s be honest-

laughter and fun aid in inspiring learning- and we laugh a lot in this class! This past month - we had many accomplishments... My

class can tell me the letters of their name, almost all can write it.... they can read a clock, add pennies, read a graph , finish a pattern...-

and more.! Even more they learned 3 words that now have empowered my class to ready books... so proud of them! We daily talk

about the fact that we are ‘Team4K’! That means we help each other reach our class goals and when one struggles our job as a team is

to help them succeed. What I love about this group... is the heart they have for each other to help each other when one struggles and

even more the fact that they pray for each other! This group is bold... they all take turns leading our end of the day prayer and pray for

each other. It truly is sweet and I just love how they have become a uniquely close group! God put them together and It is fun to see

all He is doing in them both individually and collectively- His love is shining in this group and I am thankful I get to be a small part in

their journey in learning! I can’t wait to see what the next month will bring! Have a great month!

5K News from Mrs. Byrne's Classroom: October was a fun and busy month. We worked on patterns and ordinal order in

math. During Bible time, we explored stories that teach us that God keeps His promises, we talked about Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and

Joseph. We have been working on our phonics and reading! We have started to bring books home to read to our family members.

We put on a puppet play about The 3 Billy Goats Gruff. We went on a great field trip to the Green Bay Botanical Gardenand had a

program with decomposers-WORMS AND BUGS!! It was a cold and rainy morning but the children loved it and never complained!

The end of the month brings the national Red Ribbon Campaign. Our school had some fun dress up days to look forward to and Mrs.

Sue Kratz gave a talk about staying away from drugs. Our first quarter ended this month and we had a blast at our Fall Party! We look

forward to celebrating Thanksgiving this November, St. Paul Lutheran School is definitely something to be thankful for.

1st and 2nd Grade News from Mrs. Pahnke’s Classroom: Happy Fall everyone! We are soaring through the

school year and are already done with the 1st quarter! October had many fun things to keep us busy. We started the month with Fall

Family Night! Thank you to everyone who came to join us for campfires, movies, and fun! Firefighter Cheslock came to visit this

month to teach us all about fire safety! 4K through second grade also took a trip to the Botanical Gardens. Although it was a very

rainy day we toughed it out and toured the garden in the rain with our umbrellas and then got to dig in compost for lots of creepy

crawlies! The kiddos loved every minute of it. During October we also celebrated Red Ribbon Week, where we pledge to be drug

free! We had a week full of fun dress up days to remind us to keep our bodies clean. The month will end with our annual fall parties.

This kids will be able to wear their costumes at school and we will play games and enjoy yummy treats! What a fun month it was.

We look forward to all the fun the 2nd quarter will hold!

3rd

, 4th

, and 5th

Grade News from Mrs. McClellan’s Classroom: It is hard to believe that we are almost through the

first quarter. The students continue to work hard in all of their classes. There was fun, fellowship, and food at our Fall Family Night!

It was a great success! We had a fun ending to our month. We all enjoyed celebrating “Red Ribbon Week” to show we keep our

bodies’ drug free. It was fun to come to school dressed up different each day of that week! We had our fall party. Thank you to

Mrs. Gregorich, Mrs. Weidner, and Mrs. Budworth for their hard work and great ideas! We had a great time! God bless your

November.

6th

, 7th

, and 8th

Grade News from Mr. Eigenfeld’s Classroom: Greetings from the 6-8th grade! It's incredible, but we

are already at the end of the first quarter here at St. Paul! We have had a great year so far in the upper grades with multiple engaging

projects, school events, and time spent together with the Lord and one another! A big focus this year has been connecting the concepts

we have learned in class with critical thinking projects. The class just finished studying utopias in "The Giver" and each student, in

response, attempted to create their own "perfect" community. The 6th grade also studied and researched a U.S. region in their

Geography class. Also in the 6th grade, during their study of earthquakes participated in a lab attempting to make sound quake

resistant structures. We have been hard at work, but we have also have found time for some fun activities. We recently began learning

badminton for the first time in the upper grades and the students are really enjoying it. Also, we are working on a handbell piece to

play for the much-anticipated annual Veterans' Service. Another month has come and gone, but we look forward to sharing more

awesome moments like these again soon! Blessings in Christ from the 6-8th grade!

Christian Service Guild News:

Christian Service Guild will held on November 13 at 1:00pm in the church meeting room. We will watch the movie “Same Kind of Difference As Me.” All ladies are welcome. Please note the date change! Stewardship News & Views St. Paul wrote to the Church of Christ in Corinth: “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Cor 9:7). God loves a cheerful giver. But who is a cheerful giver? Abel was. By faith, Abel gave the firstborn of his flock, and it was acceptable in God’s sight. Abraham was. By faith, Abraham prepared cakes and a tender choice calf for God and entertained angels unaware. So also were David and Solomon. By faith, David would not make a sacrifice to God that cost him nothing, so he paid Araunah his due. By faith, Solomon built a house for God, where his name would dwell and thereby where He would dwell to be Israel’s God and they His people. What more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of all those who gave not simply for the joy of giving but for the joy of knowing the One to whom they gave. So also our Lord, who for the joy set before Him, gave everything, yes, even His life, enduring the cross and scorning its shame. He gave to the shedding of His blood, willingly and resolutely setting His face toward Jerusalem to die for the life of the world. Though He was rich in every way, He became poor, so that by His poverty we might be rich beyond measure. So then, let us – like Abel and Abraham, like David and Solomon, and even like our Lord Jesus Christ – give cheerfully to God for the work of His kingdom in our midst. Like them, let us decide in our heart – for the joy set before us – the joy of knowing the One to whom we give is the One who gives us all good things. ~ LCMS Stewardship Ministry In Christ, Linda Dahlke, Tricia Brand and Chris Janda
