NOVEMBER 23rd COMPASS COMMUNICATIONS All families should have received a notice about the COMPASS commu- nication module which was distributed to the eldest child yesterday. The system, to be introduced on 4 th December, will improve the ease of communication between parents and teachers. Please read the no- tice and instructions carefully and if you need any assistance with your Compass login password, please contact the office and then store it for future reference. STAFFING NEWS It is with pleasure I announce that, along with Mitch Smart, we will have two new classroom teachers joining us in 2018 and their names are - Lucy Brown and Debbie Houghton. On behalf of the school com- munity, we welcome these three new staff members to our school com- munity. MULTI-AGE DAY Today, all students across the school will participate in the Multi-Age Day. Teachers have organised a rotation of groups and activities. This is a great opportunity for children to mix in various age groups and experience a different teacher other than their normal class teacher. I know there will be a fantastic buzz around the school and I thank the staff for organising such a worthwhile activity. HELP NEEDED IN THE ART ROOM A predicted holdup due to a delay in the delivery of the large metal beams for our new gymnasium have our builders pressing ahead with the new admin building and the refurbishment of the art room. Lauren Wite needs to pack up the art room next week ready for our removalists to take everything away to place in storage on Friday 1 st December. Lauren needs help. If any parents can assist next week at any time from Monday to Thursday, your help would be very much appreciated! Please see Lauren or leave your name at the office and the time you can assist. Thankyou in anticipation. SCHOOL DONATION Recently, our school donated old and out-of-date computer hard drives to Friends of Refugees. This organisation is an independent not-for-profit organisation which has responded to the world’s worst humanitarian crisis and helps to create a positive future for people seeking asylum and refugees in Australia. I understand our donation will enable moniey to be raised to assist with the wonderful work this organisation does in supporting those in need.

THE YEAR AHEAD – LEVEL TRANSITION Yesterday afternoon the children moved up a grade level and spoke to current teachers at that level who outlined what the children can look forward to next year. This session included discussion about excursions, camps, sporting events, school concert, Wakakirri, Chess Club, pen licence, etc. The purpose of this process is to build positivity and lessen any anxiety children may be experiencing about moving to a new building, new staff and programs. A notice outlining the 2018 programs will be distributed to all families. Please share and discuss this document with your child/ren to encour-age a positive and exciting start to the 2018 school year. GRADE 5/6 CAMP On Monday 27th November the Grade 5/6 students head off to Camp Coonawarra. I’m sure they will have a wonderful time and can highly recommend the venue for its accommodation, food and activi-ties. I will visit the camp on Wednesday 29th November and look forward to seeing students enjoy-ing new experiences and having lots of fun. Thank you to the 5/6 team who have been planning this camp for some time and to the parents attending for giving up time away from their families. It is a huge responsibility our staff take on caring for the welfare of their students 24 hours a day for 5 days. Graeme Russell
