1. / How can a teacher inform and sensitize his/her students about disability 2014 - 2015 2. First month: Human diversity 3. Primary School of Potamia, Thassos We started by saying the title of the project and some things about etwinning. Our students loved the idea and especially the fact that they will work with students from other schools via internet. We divided the students into groups. Every team/group had to find a name and a symbol. For example, team 1 is called the tough team and its symbol is two swords with a shield in the middle. Discussion and agreement on basic rules of cooperation (eg I listen carefully my classmates, I respect the views of my classmates, even though I do not share their view etc.) 4. Another activity that took place is the journey to the fantastic land of Peter Pan. We had five teams. In every team the first child had to walk lame, the second had to have one hand in the blouse, the third could walk and had both of its hands and the fourth had to observe the other three children of its team. The children had to lie down on a mattress fitness and impersonate that they had to pass through a sea by swimming, then to pick up some rocks and finally to cross a river. When all groups were finished, the observers reported the difficulties encountered by each team member. They concluded, however, that dispite their differences, they all managed to finished their journey. 5. We painted flags!!! The students saw photos from other schools (schools / classes / places). They thrilled with some photos from the school of Rhodes. They loved the city, and castle-like knights. They enjoyed the photos from their own school and their own class. 6. They contacted via e-mail with students from three primary schools (Mouries, Bartholomio and Trilofos). 7. They began to organize a small video in order to present Thassos to the students of the other schools. 8. The students sat around and formed a circle. Each student had to read a question and answer it. The student next to him had to agree or disagree with him. Some of the questions were: what is your favorite food, what is your favorite sport, what you fear most, what would you like to study etc. Then they talked. Again the conclusion was related to the acceptance of differences. All the children have preferences and expectations. In some they agree, in others they disagree. But there arent good and bad ways, just different !!! 9. It is very important to say that the teachers made a meeting at school in order to inform the parents of the students about etwinning projects and about the goals of the specific project!!! 10. Unique!!!
