U.S. Heart of Ambassador Award Nominees

Elizabeth Gonzalez-del-PozoMarket Development Manager, Foodservice & On-Premise, South Florida Market Unit

Started at Coca-Cola: November 8, 2011. I interviewed on October 7, the day my niece was born, and started on my sister’s birthday. I knew it was destiny from the start!

Favorite Coke Product: Fuze Raspberry Tea and Simply Orange Juice. I typically start my day with Simply OJ and enjoy Fuze with most of my meals throughout the day.

What We Heard About Liz...

When people are needed for community projects, Liz is always the first to volunteer. At work, Liz is improving the employee experience. She has seen many new faces join the FSOP team and, without anyone asking her, created a tool to point new associates to helpful resources and help them succeed in their new positions. Finally, Liz is helping to grow our business. Referrals of satisfied customers contributed to her exceeding her new outlet goal for multiple quarters.

“She’s a great team player who not only brings solid results each quarter, but is also a remarkable Ambassador for our brands in the community.”

Q: What is your favorite part about working at Coca-Cola?

A: I have been lucky enough to be able to truly appreciate the impact our company has on my community and so many others. I have experienced first-hand how involved Coca-Cola is around the world. My mother is from Ecuador, and recently there was a devastating earthquake that left many, including my family members, injured and without a home. Our local Market Unit and I found ways to help, including by donating DASANI through the Ecuadorian consulate here in Miami and sending supplies to increase the relief impact. Coca-Cola’s efforts warmed my heart and made me even prouder of my company. I am proud to work for a company that has a strong commitment to empowering women, human rights and spreading happiness.

Q: What does this nomination mean to you?

A: I was raised to do things for others without any expectation of getting something in return. To give what you can and help where you can. This nomination is a sweet reminder that doing the right thing pays off in unexpected ways.

Valarie MackeyIT Global Performance Leader, Global Information Technology

Started at Coca-Cola: February 2005

Favorite Coke Product: My new favorite Coca-Cola product is Coke Life.

What We Heard About Valarie...

Valarie is promoting STEM education to middle school and high school students through her work with Women in Technology (WIT), Atlanta Public Schools and PowerMyLearning. She has helped build computer labs, introduced young girls to STEM, and works on a project that donates laptops to Atlanta Public Schools’ 6th graders. Additionally, she serves on the board of Technology Association of Georgia (TAG).

“She’s a true inspiration and role model for all women in the field of technology and is helping influence the next generation of women leaders.”

Q: What is your favorite part about working at Coca-Cola?

A: My favorite part about working at Coca-Cola is the diversity – of the people, the roles I’ve held, the offices that I have traveled to, and the overall experiences. I’ve been fortunate to be in the company’s IT organization and do everything from leading transformation initiatives for the business units that I partnered with to leading community outreach projects, facilitating Ambassador trainings and many other things in between. I’ve loved traveling to other countries to meet our wonderful associates around the world and connect the dots of our ever-growing virtual teams. Being able to work in a diverse environment is important to me and makes me proud that Coca-Cola holds diversity and inclusion as a priority.

Q: What does this nomination mean to you?

A: It’s an honor that a peer would consider the work I am doing as impactful and want to recognize me with a nomination. I am proud of the Coca-Cola brand and I am always excited to represent the company in the community, with organizations, and even to other associates. I sincerely believe in the company’s legacy of giving and its care for consumers, communities, the environment, and employees. I simply try to embody those values. To be recognized for something I do that comes naturally and is something I have a passion for is flattering.

Edward Doyle Production Manager, Tri State Metro Operating Unit

Started at Coca-Cola: 1997

Favorite Coke Product: Coca-Cola, especially over lots of ice! It always takes me back to my childhood.

What We Heard About Ed...

Ed’s dedication to his job, and to the Coca-Cola brand overall, is inspiring. He is ready to respond to issues whenever they arise, routinely goes the extra mile and works long hours to address challenges and inspire our associates.

Ed’s commitment and positive attitude shone through recently when there were issues with the production lines due to construction. Despite the frustrations, Ed kept spirits high and when the issue was resolved he was quoted as saying “We’re making soda, and we’re making it well. My employees are happy, which makes me happy!”

“He genuinely cares about his staff, and goes out of his way to say ‘Thank You.’”

Q: What is your favorite part about working at Coca-Cola?

A: My favorite part of working at Coca-Cola is watching the people I hired years ago move into different positions in the Manufacturing Department and succeed. I love watching them grow in their personal lives too – getting married, buying a house, having children. This is very rewarding for me. I also enjoy working with the best team in the world! The reason for success in any department is the people who work hard together every day toward a common goal.

Edward Doyle

Q: What does this nomination mean to you?

A: The nomination means a lot to me. But more than the nomination, I am thankful for the great people I work with every day. They are the ones who make the difference. That’s why we smile every day. If you keep your people motivated and show that you believe in them, they’ll move mountains for you and their teammates.
