Haley and I had our last car show of the year. It was the 22nd Westlake Village Auto Show. This is the fourth year we at-tended. This show always has many dif-ferent makes and

models including rare cars. One car that stood out was a 1969 Mclaren. This was a full blown race car, wing and all. The Cor-vette class was

divided in three classes. 1953 - 1969, 1970 - 1982 and 1984 to present. We had over 20 cars in our class. When they an-nounced the winners, they called Haley Spitz in the supercharged Z06 - first place. She

The Activities Com-mittee met on Octo-ber 9 to plan the CCSB activities for 2008. I would like to thank Fred and Anne Lopez, Fred and Sharon Smith, Bob and Inge Stallings, Frank and Barbara Lo-Monaco, Tony Me-g o w a n , F r e d Markley, and Clau-

dia Whitney for their participation in the meeting and their willingness to help throughout the year. THANK YOU! I would also like to thank the members who could not attend the meeting but who have offered to plan and/or lead runs. We still need help and new ideas from

all of you, so as ideas occur to you please talk to me at a meet-ing, send me an email, or pick up the phone, at any time during the year. We have a tentative schedule for 2008 that includes a lot of old favorites and some new and excit-ing events.

Old Club Rosters should be shredded not just thrown in

the trash when replaced.

What a spectacular sight, sixteen shiny Corvettes cruising up 101 on a beauti-ful sunny Sunday morning with the Santa Ynez Coastal Mountains on the right and the shimmering Pacific Ocean on the left. We truly live in paradise folks! The group included Carole & Daryl Burgess, Thore Edgren & Pia, Sandy & Dennis Higgins, Helen & John Jensen, Dotty & Jerry Livers, Bar-bara & Frank LoMonaco, Bryce Lovett, Paula & Tony Megowan, Lynne & Dennis Merenbach, Linda

& Steve Petersen, Mona & Al Rotella, Sharon & Fred Smith, Diane & Bob Szalay, Evie & Robert Wheeler, Lee Whitney with Judy Purcell riding shotgun ( Claudia was in South Carolina leaf peep-ing and Jim was in Virginia ), and a surprise visit from Karen & Jack Gressingh who now live near Tucson, AZ. It was great to see Karen & Jack with us again, I hope they come back to see us again soon. We meandered through some of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo County

October was a fun month for visitors. For those of you who were not able to attend the meeting you missed see-ing Rafael and Mona Salazar and Paul and Barbara Mariano. And for those of you who did not make the Morro Bay brunch run, you missed seeing Jack and Karen Gressingh. It was won-derful to have three of our past presidents and first ladies with us. We hope that they will all return soon.

The wine tasting and brunch run to the Santa Ynez Valley is all set for Sunday, November 18. We will be visiting Ru-sack winery, have brunch at The Vineyard House, then visit Foley winery and end up at Melville winery. The cost for tastings at each winery is $10 per per-son. Details about the time and the place to meet will be sent by email soon to those who are on the list. If you have not signed up and want to go then send me an email or give me a call.

Invitations will be going out very soon for our Holiday party. The date is Saturday, December 8

th.

The place is Mulligan’s Café. The time is 6:30PM. You must RSVP by November 28 or you will not be able to attend.

scenic back roads on our way up to the beautiful Inn at Morro Bay where we were greeted by a “Welcome Cor-vette Club Santa Barbara sign at the main lobby entrance. The buffet brunch was set up in the Bay Club room which over looks Morro Bay with a wonderful view of Morro Rock. The buffet was laid out beauti-fully with a wide variety of tasty appetizers, hearty en-trees, delicious desserts, hot and cold breakfast beverages,

and lots of champagne which flowed continuously.

for a brief driver’s meeting at 7:45 AM The Mo-tor4toys event is from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and I have made lunch reser-vations at the Claim Jumper Restaurant in Thousand Oaks for 1:30 PM Please meet at Tyler’s Donuts (1002 Casitas Pass Rd.) in the Casitas Plaza Shopping Center no later than 6:30 AM for a 6:45 AM sharp depar-

ture. I know I know it’s early, but let’s help them “BEAT

THE FERRARIS” and check out all of the other great Exotics. Besides, we’ll be able to watch a glorious California sun rise and this will be great practice get out of bed early for those of you who have signed up for the 2009 caravan to Bowling Green. For fur-ther information contact me at 968-4034 or [email protected]. Come on Gang, it’ll be fun!!!

We welcome three new members this month: John and Pam McCoy with a Steel Blue 1991 ZR1

and Bobby Felch with a Red 2005 Coupe

Be sure to leave an interest card on Corvettes seen around town that don’t have our club decal on them. See Frank for Club logo, embroidered clothing and club decals for your new car.

This year’s goal at the 4

th Annual Mo-

tor4toys event is 15,000 toys. A lofty goal, but we can cer-tainly help by merely showing up with an unwrapped $10.00 toy. Not only is this a wor-thy cause, but it should be a lot of fun. Last year’s event drew well over 700 Cars including CORVETTE, VIPER, FERRARI, PORSCHE, LAMBOR-G H I N I , B M W , ACURA N S X ,

SHELBY 427 CO-BRA, and plenty of VINTAGE HOT RODS & MUSCLE CARS. This year they expect in excess of 1000 cars. There will be plenty of eye candy for your viewing pleasure. The $10.00 un-wrapped toy is your entrance fee plus you will receive one (1) raffle ticket for a chance to win a great prize (1 toy, 1 raffle ticket-2 toys, 2 raffle tickets, etc.). Last year

they raffled off every-thing from engine per-formance chips to a weekend at a Racing School. As I have mentioned before, Ferrari is attempting to break the world’s record for the most Ferraris in a parade (they will parade into the event). They’re hoping to show up with 400 or more Ferraris. All of the donated toys will be given to the

Los Angeles Sheriffs Office, Lost Hills Sub-Station Booster Club and given to needy children during the holidays. The CORVETTE FO-RUM wants to “BEAT THE FERRARIS” and is putting together an all Corvette caravan to make a grand en-trance at the event. They want all Cor-vettes to meet at Brent’s Deli, 2799 Townsgate Rd, West-lake Village at 7:30

Once again our Corvette Club par-ticipated in the Santa Barbara High School Homecoming. Jac & Yuri Bellesiles, Dan Burro, John & Helen Jensen, Bryce Lovett, Roger Hoyt, Gary Smith and Jim Wafer endured a night of rain to parade 7 high school princesses around the track at the annual Santa Barbara High School Home-coming football game. While wait-ing for the halftime activities we all stood under cover at the field house to keep from getting drenched by the rain. We had to pay Bryce $35 to participate in the event. Actually, Bryce came by the $35 legiti-mately. Each year we all put $5 in a pot and whoever escorts the prin-cess that is chosen to be the queen wins the pot and Bryce was the winner. Usually we all have our tops down and the princesses will sit up on the boot as we parade them around the track as they wave to the ap-plause of the audience in the stands. Because of the rain we all had our tops up and the princesses had to wave at the audience out of the window. The princesses fathers await them in front of the grand stands and escort their daughters down a red carpet where the an-nouncement is made of who is cho-sen as queen. We then circle the track again and pick each contest-

ant up and deliver them back to the starting point. Our princesses and school officials were very appreciative of the CCSB participating in this annual event and presented each of us with a gift certificate for fine dining at Pascucci’s restaurant in SB.
