Hey guys! Decemeer brings around new
opportunities of service for the club. The holiday
season is very busy, but make sure you make
time for service! Be sure to get all of your hours
this month and keep the sprit of service
wherever you go! We may not have as many
events this month, but there are still plenty of
opportunities to get hours. Have a wonderful
holiday season!
Hey Key Club! So far, this year has been very
successful! We’ve reached our goals with
ELIMINATE, but we’ve still got work to do! I’m
thankful for each and everyone of you and your
dedication to this club makes me want to do more
for you guys! Thanks for making all of the events of
the past month such a success - Turkey Trot was
amazing as always! Get ready for the holiday
season, it’s going to be packed with service and
spirit! I can’t wait to see what our club will
accomplish!

At the Friendship House, Key Clubbers were
pleased to help sort goods for the
Thanksgiving holiday! They put together
thanksgiving baskets as many who are
struggling this time of year need essential
items like clothing, blankets and food. As the
average temperature drops around this time
of year, more and more help is needed to
ensure our community is taken care of. The
atmosphere at this event was certainly full of
drive, but also positivity!
This event was a great time to get in the spirit

of thankfullness as we delve into the
holiday season. As we grow older, it’s
important to acknowledge and cherish all
that we have. I definitely wish I was more
thankful for my blessings when I was a little
seven year – old girl! Key Clubbers
especially understand what it means to be
blessed – I mean we constantly surround
ourselves with people who need help. In
return helping to realize and value the
importance of helping those in need.

Happiness doesn't result from what we get, but from what we give.”

Key Clubbers have aided in an organization that helps women in situations of abuse or neglect.
Go to http://www.genesisshelter.org if you would like to volunteer or donate more items.
Genesis Women’s
The Genesis Women’s Shelter
promotes the shelter, safety and
strength of women who have been
victims of abuse or need counseling.
It’s open 24/7 for women who need
it. A couple of seniors made their
Creative, Action and Service Project
to help the shelter by donating
supplies, so of course Key Clubbers
came to their aid by helping out!
It’s always important to remember
that treating someone with care is
the best thing you can do for a
person.

We aided the Genesis Women’ Shelter by donating supplies like
shampoo and other toiletries that always needed. You can always
donate supplies to them by going onto their website because they are
always in need of something, or donating gently used clothing to
their store on Saturday.

Awesome job donating everyone! There I’ve seen at least 5 boxes of goods donated tot the Genesis
Women’s Shelter in two months of collecting goods! I assure you, the leaders of the organization
will be quite pleased with our generous donation!
We have the display case the week
before we leave for exams! Look out for
an ELIMINATE campaign!

TURKEY TROT
Turkey Trot is one of the most anticipated traditions
Garland High School Key Club has. Normally, we love
helping at races, but this one race has a special
place in our hearts. Every year YMCA and various
organizations sponsor Turkey Trot in Dallas. On the
morning of Thanksgiving, families, friends, couples
and even dogs gather to run though the streets of
Dallas in celebration of all that they are thankful for.
The atmosphere of Turkey Trot always ensures that
everyone will have a great time!
Our key clubbers were spread all over the race in
registration, packet pick-up food and water stations,
etc. From what it looked like, this year the bounce
house and obstacle course was that most popular
station! Helping kids through the course was a blast
and parents even commented on our well - driven
system of getting the kids through the course! Those
kids sure had a lot of energy!
The race this year was especially important, because
it was the first Trot race after the sorrowful Boston
bombings. Race turnout this year did decline as a
result, but the positive attitudes from everyone did
not change, thankfully. All in all, everyone had a
wonderful time celebrating all that they were
thankful for and taking pictures with turkeys of
course!
