On September 18th, 2017 the California Memorial Project, 15th Annual Remembrance Day Ceremony took place at Stockton Rural Ceme-tery. In the photos below are Left to Right; NAMI Volunteer Outreach Co-ordinator Drew Strachan, Tony Anderson Execut ive Director (VMRC), BHS Consumer Outreach Coordinator Kerrie Melton, NAMI Volunteer Stacy Bullock and Peer Recovery Services Volunteer Linda Gomez. The next photo are of people who attended the event in front of the memorial Stone.

The first week in October 1st through 7th is Mental Illness Awareness Week. NAMI San Joaquin County in efforts to bring awareness to Mental Health in our community participated in an event hosted by Mountain House High School located in Mountain House, Ca near the city of Tracy. On October 2nd, 2017 NAMI San Joaquin County through community engage-

ment and outreach met with students in the quad for several periods throughout the day talking about and bringing awareness to Mental Health and the STIGMA that very often surrounds it. I had the pleasure of speaking to Charles Schallhorn’s (Teacher AP Psychology) 3rd and 7th period classes regarding my lived experience growing up with Mental Health Challenges, living in silence due

to

the fear of STIGMA. Mountain House High School will have one of the first NAMI High School Clubs on Campus in San Joaquin County, we signed up 48 students that day to join this club. Thanks to the collaborative efforts with the NCHS Club advisors Kris Olson and Charles Schallhorn and the support of Joni Hellstrom (Vice Prin-cipal) we look forward to working closely with our partners at Mountain

Mental Health Awareness Events House High School (NCHS). On October 3rd and 4th NAMI San Joaquin participated as part of Mental Illness Awareness Week kick off at San Joaquin Delta College community engagement through student outreach event in the quad. Delta College will be starting one of the first NAMI Col-lege Clubs on Campus in San Joaquin County with over 50 students signed up to join the club.
