4 Serial Port Connections The supplied USB to TTL UART cable connects to the NetLeap™ as follows:

While this cable works well within the provided LINUX VM, the cable may not work properly under Windows 10 without obtaining a third party driver. You may search the web for drivers based on the USB ID. For Windows 10 NovTech recommends a FTDI TTL-232R-3V3 cable (not provided). It should be connected per the following:

5 Booting NetLeap™

5.1 Hardware Setup

To setup the NetLeap™ board for booting, follow these steps:

1. Plug in the supplied USB to TTL UART cable to the HPS UART port on the board (see figure 7) and connect to PC.

2. Run the supplied LINUX VM (see the NetLeap™ development manual for instructions)

3. Insert the SD card into the HPS SD slot.

5.2 Serial Console Setup

Open a Serial Terminal like Hyper-Terminal, PuTTY or UConn, with settings of 115200, 8, N, 1.

For convenience, PuTTY and a preconfigured settings file are provided in the supplied Virtual Machine. The VM provides a preinstalled environment with tools to speed development. A link to PuTTY can be found on the desktop

5.3 Power the board Using the provided power adaptor apply +5V to the board. Monitoring the serial terminal, you can stop at uBOOT or boot all the way to the Linux prompt. The login is ‘root’
