■The Hot Spring Law defines an ”Onsen” as water, water vapor, or other gas(*) that gushes out of the earth and meets or exceeds the prescribed amount of chemical components, or a spring with a source water temperature of 25°C or hotter.
(*excluding natural gas for which the main ingredient is hydrocarbon) ■ Onsens are also divided into 4 types by source water temperature.

Contains salts, in particular high levels of common salt. Over 1,000mg of dissolved element per 1kg of onsen of which the main element of anions is chloride ions.

- acne, oily skin, - dermatitis, rheumatism, - asthma, - gynaecological disorders, etc.
Effects:
Sulphur Spring: Kusatsu Onsen
Contains high levels of sulphur or hydrogen sulphide.

Effects:
Radioactive Spring: Murasugi Onsen
Contains radioisotopes created by nuclear decay of tiny amounts of substances ranging from radium, radon and astatine to mercury.

Spa & Wellness Week (SWW), the only one nationwide spa industry campaign and event, will be conducted at around 100 spas of almost all areas in Japan and the guests can try various types of spa with discounted rates during the campaign period.
Currently, the SWW committee is planning to provide smart photoplethysmography sensors to spas which interested in utilize it for appealing the effectiveness on improvements of the guest’s autonomic nerve with balance control of sympathetic and parasympathetic.
