The Solar Structural Fire Suits have
three components: an outer shella moisture barrier, and a thermal
barrier, all serving a differentfunction. The outer layer protectsagainst flame injury and burnscaused by conductive heat. Themoisture barrier protects againstwater penetration and allowinginternal moisture vapour to escape.
It is imperative that the layers arekept dry to avoid the transfer of heatin a corvective manner from the

This method tests the fabric with an 8 kA arc for

certification process hasbeen created to protect consumers rights and to avoidthe import of poor quality products. Any productsentering the Russian Federation market should meetnational quality standards.The certification process for products may beeither obligatory or voluntary, for which there areregulations in place. This involves both domesticallyproduced, and imported goods into Russia.
Obligatory certificateAn obligatory certificate contains a profile of the goods
and confirms their compliance with the standards aslisted on the certificate of conformance,
Inspection is carried out by a specialist, on theproduction premises of the goods that requirecertification. On the basis of results obtained from
this, and through testing samples of the goods in alaboratory, an appropriate certificate of compliance isissued,
Voluntary Certificates
This type of certificate is for products where noformal legislation is laid down for their certification,but the importer/exporter still wishes to prove theirhigh quality,A certificate of conformance may be issued eitherfor a batch of goods or on ongoing production and its
validity varies. If a certificate is issued for a batch ofgoods, it will be valid for one shipment. For ongoingproduction items, certificates of conformance may bevalid from 1 to 3 years. Portwest have opted for thelatter version, so all our GOST-R certificates are valid
for the maximum period of 3 years.
These standards are currently being reviewed andupdated by the Technical Regulation to CustomsUnion TR CU 019/2011 (Safety of personal protectiveequipment) with the purpose of establishing theuniform requirements for PPE. Portwest will beupdating all their products to the new Legislationaccordingly, when the certification bodies receiveaccreditation to do so. The new legislation will be validin three countries - Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstanwhilst at the moment the G0ST R certificate of
conformance covers the Russian Federation only.
