Teamwork is an essential part of workplace success. Like a basketball team working together to set up the perfect shot, every team member has a specific role to play in accomplishing tasks on the job. Although it may seem as if one player scored the basket, that basket was made possible by many people’s planning, coordination, and cooperation to get that player the ball. Employers look for people who not only know how to work well with others, but who understand that not every player on the team can or will be the one who gets the ball. When everyone in the workplace works together to accomplish goals, everyone achieves more. Join the GREEN team! Teamwork is an essential part of workplace success. Like a basketball team working together to set up the perfect shot, every team member has a specific role to play in accomplishing tasks on the job. State 4-H Awards & Honors It is time for outstanding 4-H members to apply for awards and

honors! To obtain an application contact the 4-H Office or ask your

4-H Club Leader. All applications DUE JANUARY 4th, 2013

Graduating Seniors (Unlimited) To receive a 4-H Honor Cord you must meet the following requirements:

Must be an enrolled 4-H member in good standing

Must be a graduating senior

Must have been enrolled in 4-H for 3 years of their high school career

Must have participated in at least one state sponsored 4-H program in the last 3 years

Must fill out the application form and turn in to their parish office by January 4, 2013

Key Club Award (Max of 3) Gives recognition to 4-H Club members who have shown outstanding

leadership ability in their club and in their parish. The object of the program is to encourage project

growth, a broad program of 4-H club members who have shown outstanding leadership ability in their club

and in their parish. The recipient of the 4-H Key Club Awards can be proud of their contribution to their

club and community. A club member may win the award only one time.

Must be 16 years of age by January 1 of the year application is made

Must have three years of 4-H club work including award year

Must have completed one year of active Junior Leadership work excluding award year

Must score at least 140 points on the application and scorecard

Junior Award of Excellence (Max of 3) The basic requirements are as follows:

Must be under 14 years of age by January 1 of the club year application is made

Must have at least (2) years of 4-H club work, including award year

Must score at least 100 points on the application and scorecard

A club member may win the award only one time

HORSE PROJECT CLUB: Saturday, December 15 @ Old River Farms

Food and Fitness Camp: Made in the USA

The weekend Food and Fitness camp experience is designed for teams of youth to develop knowledge

and skills in the area of food and nutrition, diet and fitness, along with building teamwork skills. One of

the objectives of the camp is to have teams return to their local programs and share some of their

camping experiences with others.

For more information or to register contact your 4-H Agent or 4-H Club Leader!

Please keep in mind that overnight, chaperone trained adult volunteers are needed to help take youth to camps! If we do not have enough adult volunteers youth

ESSAYS DUE: February 1, 2013 AT 4:30 P.M. TO 4-H OFFICE

RULES: Contest is open to active 4-H Club members only. 4-H'ers who have previously placed first, second, or third at the national level, or first place on the state level, are not eligible. Requirements: Failure to meet any one of the following requirement disqualifies the essay. Write on the designated subject only. All factual statements must be referenced with bibliographical-style endnotes. A brief biographical sketch of the essayist, including date of birth, gender, complete mailing address, and telephone number, must accompany the essay. Length – the essay proper: 750 to 1000 words. The word count does not include the endnotes, the bibliography or references, nor the essayist's biographical sketch – which should be on a separate page. Preparation for Na-tional Judging: ELECTRONIC SUBMISSIONS ONLY. Prepare your essays double-spaced, 12-pt. Times or similar type style, following standard manuscript format. Submit as a Microsoft Word compatible document. Essays will be judged on (a) scope of research - 40%; (b) accuracy - 30%; (c) creativity - 10%; (d) conciseness - 10%; and (e) logical development of the topic - 10%. Individual essayists should not forward essays directly to the Foundation office. The National Winner will be announced by May 1, 2013. All National entries become the property of the Foundation and may be published or used as it sees fit. No essay will be returned. National winning essays will be posted at: http://honeybeepreservation.org.

4-H Night at the Hive! Friday, January 25 ~ NOLA

Join us for a fun evening of Hornets basketball! Friday, January 25 the New

Orleans Hornets will take on the Houston Rockets at 7:00 p.m. at the New

Orleans Hornets Arena in New Orleans, LA. The purpose of the event is

provide 4-H’ers the opportunity to interact with others from around the state, and increase

recognition of the 4-H program within the state. There are several AWESOME opportunities for

those 4-H’ers attending such as sitting with the basketball team during the game, warming up with

the Hornets prior to the game and the color guard display. To participate, you must qualify. For a

list of qualifications contact the 4-H Office prior to December 18, 2012. Tickets to the game can

be purchased online by January 10th at www.hornetsgroups.com; passcode: 4-H.
