Shooting Sports: Now Practicing

Guns Provided - This is a safety program!!

COOKERY CONTEST BASIC RULES: 1. The dish must be prepared by the 4-H member the night before & chilled in refrigerator. 2. You may enter only one (1) dish in each category (up to 7 dishes total). 3. The contest will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. NO DISHES accepted after 10:00 a.m. 4. Dish must be transported to the contest on ice in an ice chest. The entire dish must be displayed i.e. if a cookie recipe yields 3 dozen, then 3 dozen cookies must be displayed for the contest. DISHES NOT CHILLED AND TRANSPORTED ON ICE IN AN ICE CHEST WILL BE DISQUALIFIED! RECIPE EVALUATION A. Name of Recipe B. List of ingredients in order of used in instructions (measurements given in common fractions; no abbreviations or brand

names used; include size and weight of cans, packages, etc.) C. Instructions for combining ingredients (clear instructions for every step of combining and cooking the ingredients; short,

clear and concise sentences; correct food preparation terms; size of pan stated; temperature stated; number of serv-ings; preparation time

D. Bring two (2) typed copies of recipes. One recipe should have your name on it and one recipe should not! GROUND BEEF *Minimum of 1 pound ground beef must be used Quick and Easy Division: ready to serve in less than 1 hour; list time f or each step; One Dish Meal Division: provides foods from at least 3 main food groups; list food group used

EGG *Minimum of 4 eggs must be used—can be 4 whole, 4 whites or 4 yolks or a combination. No raw eggs in final product. Appetizer Division, Main Dish Division and Dessert Division

PECAN *Minimum of 1/2 cup pecans must be used, may be whole, chopped, halves or pieces Cookies Division, Candy Division and Other Division (may include dish, salad, appetizer etc. but not dessert or bread item.)

POULTRY *Minimum of 2lbs bone-in or 1lb de-boned poultry meat Chicken Division: Should purchase whole chicken or identifiable chicken parts such as wings, thighs, or breasts. Should not contain special processed chicken such as marinated chicken strips, chicken nuggets, chicken franks, smoked chicken, canned chicken, etc. Chicken includes any of the following: Fryer, Broiler, Capon, Baking Hen, Cornish, and Game Hen Other Poultry Division: Turkey, Duck, Goose, Quail, Grouse, Pheasant, Ostrich, Pigeon, Emu, Guinea, and Dove

SEAFOOD *Minimum of 1 cup of crawfish or shrimp; no raw seafood is allowed in final dish, canned seafood is NOT acceptable Shrimp Division and Crawfish Division

Youth Ambassadors from Natchitoches Parish that develop and sponsor projects that enhance the appear-ance and quality of the environment in Natchitoches Parish, while teaching our peers to be responsible stewards of the environment. We represent the parish at City Council meetings, record public announce-ments, participate in clean up events….basically wherever there is an environmental need in the community we make our youth voice heard! For more information or to register contact your 4-H Agent or 4-H Club Leader! Please keep in mind that overnight, chaperone trained adult volunteers are needed to help take youth to camps! If we do not

Take a road trip across Louisiana and learn about our culture, government, and people! Kickoff with the

“Carnival of Culture.” You will have the opportunity to explore our unique culture playing musical

games with Louisiana’s very own music. Some of Louisiana’s famous paintings will be introduced, and

you will have a chance to include your own style into Louisiana by participating in a recreational paint-

ing session. The importance of Louisiana in WWII will be discussed where you will participate in a

mock WWII maneuver, and you will get a closer look at how our government works. Finally, leave your

mark on our wonderful state by planting trees around Camp Grant Walker that will continue to grow for

many years to come! Camp is for 7th-9th graders; $70 for youth; $25 for adult volunteers.

Build leadership skills through teamwork and communication activities...all while having fun in the great

outdoors! Activities include an outdoor cooking competition; obstacle course; safe camping and hiking

practices; compass and pacing; forestry awareness; ATV safety; GPS. Camp is for 7th-12th graders; $40

for youth; held at Caney Lake, Jimmie Davis State Park.

Demonostrate communication skills by drawing a billboard encouraging or pro-moting the eating or drinking of milk/milk products; beef/beef products. The fin-ished poster should be appropriate for use on a billboard.

Any bonafide 4-H club member. A 4-H club member is allowed to win each division only once.

ganization that meets the second Thursday of

every month from 6:30-7:30 at the

Natchitoches Arts Center. Club membership is

open and dues are $10.00 and must be paid by

the October meeting.
