Geological data to de-risk explorationAs a world-leading satellite remote sensing service provider, NPA Satellite Mapping (NPA) interprets satellite imagery in a wide variety of onshore and offshore settings. NPA possesses the expertise required to detect, classify and monitor natural seepage occurring in offshore environments, and determine the structural geology of onshore regions, to provide a comprehensive view of the hydrocarbon potential of a region.

NPA Satellite Mapping - Oil Exploration

Croatia Geological Study

Onshore Croatia structural geologyThe Dinarides of Croatia hold significant hydrocarbon potential, encapsulated in the forthcoming licensing round. However, the geology and tectonic history of this exciting area is complex, and a contiguous geological data set is needed to fully understand this complexity. NPA has capitalized on its core expertise in structural geology, geomorphology, tectonics and petroleum systems to produce a detailed and comprehensive geological study to help de-risk exploration across the Dinarides thrust belt of Croatia.

The study provides:

• A geological interpretation based on contemporary satellite data and recent publications

• Consistency through contiguous geological mapping (1:100,000 scale)

• A detailed structural and stratigraphic interpretation

• The clarity and convenience of an ArcGIS* environment

• Optional geological cross-sections

AvailabilityThe Dinarides geological study is being created for the forthcoming licensing round. An introductory offer is available to pre-subscribing companies.

Adriatic onshore geologyThe Adriatic region has a complex tectonic history that has resulted in a large variety of structural styles, seen across the Dinarides, Panonian Basin, and the Hellenides. To help explorationists understand this complexity, evaluate acreages confidently and de-risk their activities, NPA has developed a detailed, contiguous geological map across the entire Circum-Adriatic region. The work is based on expert interpretation of satellite data, together with existing stratigraphic mapping, and is available at 1:250,000 scale. An interpretation completed at 1:100,000 scale is also available for Croatia, Montenegro, Albania and western Greece, based upon:

• SRTM/AW3D 30m elevation data

• Landsat 7 & 8 15m optical data

• Sentinel-2 10m optical data

Adriatic offshore seepageThe Adriatic and offshore western Greece have seen a significant increase in exploration activity in recent years, including the announcement of new licensing rounds. NPA’s offshore seepage database offers extensive coverage across these areas, and provides a first indication of working petroleum systems through:

• Robust, expert interpretation

• An archive of 180 interpreted SAR scenes

• Availability of new high-quality SAR imagery

Reduction of source risk is crucial, and is addressed directly by NPA’s Global Offshore Seepage Database (GOSD). The effectiveness of this basin screening techique is well established with the identification of temporally repeating slicks linked to significant discoveries. The information provided by this study can be integrated with auxiliary data, to enhance de-risking activities.*ArcGIS is a registered trademark of Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc.
