Dear Family,

The year 2006 was not only a year of positive changes for NPH - Nicaragua butalso a year that brought sadness to all of us; we all heart felt the death of ourbeloved Fr. Wasson; we all miss his unconditional love and profound philosophywhich must remain and should be passed on to our little ones…that is his legacy.

We consolidated a solid supportive team of qualified people to help with ourchildren's everyday life problems; we called it “the advising committee”. Thiscommittee is involved with our kids' simple decisions to the choosing of theirtechnical or professional careers; this committee also assists them in the transi-tion of living and studying in Managua. We now have three homes in Managuafor our older students; two houses for our girls and one for our boys. We believethat moving them to Managua and new challenges will help them change intomore independent, responsible individuals.

The children and staff are very excited about the acquisition of our new propertyin Santa Teresa, Carazo. It is 45 minutes south west of Managua; this will give usthe ability to find competent people who better care for our children's needs. Our children will also enjoy a cooler climate.

I can only say that NPH-Nicaragua is moving toward a better, safer place and thischange could only be possible to the unconditional dedication of our personneland immense efforts of our children. None of this could be possible without thesupport or our benefactors, friends and our NPHI directors.

I will like to close with a phrase Fr. Wasson once told me “It is incredible all youcan do in your life time, if you just do a little bit each time”

Marlon VelasquezNational Director NPH Nicarauga
