NPWT WouNd filler?Why Sorbact®

In general wound management there is a wide range of wound dressings to choose from to get the

best result. In Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT), the options for wound filler are very limited.

Therefore it is time to introduce a new one - Sorbact® Negative Pressure Wound Filler. We did not feel

the need to invent something new, we simply listened to our customers and adapted Sorbact® for

NPWT application.

1. Treat the wound according to local clinical practice.

2. Clean and dry periwound skin.

3. Remove the Sorbact® NPWT Wound Filler from the

pack using an aseptic technique.

4. Unfold and moisten Sorbact® NPWT Wound Filler with sterile saline.

5. Loosely fill the wound cavity. Make sure that the wound filler is in direct contact with

the wound surface. Do not pack densely. Apply Sorbact® NPWT Wound Filler in its

complete form, cut excess material as required. Application of multiple cut pieces

increases the risk of retention of the product in the wound and is not recommended.

6. Proceed as directed for the NPWT system used.

Sorbact® NPWT Wound Filler is a hydrophobic cellulose acetate fabric that conforms to

the wound bed providing negative pressure distribution without in-growth of granulation

tissue. Sorbact® NPWT Wound Filler binds pathogenic microorganisms, creates a wound

healing environment that promotes the wound healing process by removing exudate and

infectious material, affecting blood flow in the wound bed, stimulating wound contraction

and microdeformation, accelerating granulation tissue formation and thereby preparing

the wound bed for closure.
