We are excited about hosting, for the first time, a ‘TeachMeet’ session and wewelcome and thank colleagues who have volunteered to share their outstanding practice.

The HE Landscape
Liam Owens
The Higher Education landscape has changed at an unprecedented rate since the CoalitionGovernment came to power in 2010. The changes that have been implemented will, inevitably, have a significant impact on those who work in the Education sector as well as those who areconsidering applying to university.
But what is fact and what is hearsay?
This brief session will give an overview of those changes, what you need to know as aneducation specialist and how Edge Hill University can help.

A TeachMeet is a group of teachers and educators that have got together to share ideas. Theseare ideas that they have used in the classroom and that they want to share with a wideraudience. You can present using any tool you wish. This might be PowerPoint® , Prezi, bits ofpaper or in the case of one, a guitar. The main thing is the sharing of ideas.
Generally TeachMeets follow some simple rules and the main one is that presentations areshort, usually 2 or 5 minutes in length. This means that you can get lots of people sharing lotsof ideas in one event. The presentations are also about ideas rather than products.
TeachMeets happen across the country (and the world) and they started as small meetings orover dinner. They now run mainly as either an event at a conference or as an event in theirown right. The NQT Conference brings TeachMeet to Edge Hill University for the first time.
